Our choice for a performance tubeless racing tyre

Our choice for a performance tubeless racing tyre

Are you that speed demon who can't stand losing? The Pirelli P Zero Race TLR is ideal for a race or competition thanks to its SpeedCore technology and SmartEVO rubber compound. Tubeless-ready, of course, so you save on weight, rolling resistance and the chance of punctures. So you can be sure it won't be down to your tyres!

Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • Thanks to the light TechWALL+ carcass, the risk of punctures is significantly reduced, making this tyre ideal for almost all year round.
  • The all-new SmartEVO rubber compound provides an almost perfect combination of grip, comfort and rolling resistance, even in wet conditions.
  • Pirelli provides very extensive information and recommendations with the P Zero Race TLR so that you can get the most out of this tyre.
  • Mounting tubeless tires is generally more difficult and time consuming than the familiar tyre and tube combination.

Description

Description

The P Zero Race TLR is the first high-performance all-round tubeless road bike tyre in the Pirelli line-up. After several years of research and road testing, in collaboration with both the men's and women's teams of the Mitchelton-Scott and Trek-Segafredo cycling teams, Pirelli is supplementing its performance road bike tires with a top-class tubeless tyre.

The P Zero Race TLR is a true all-rounder, the ideal tire for optimum performance all year round, packed with technical innovations in the field of puncture protection, construction and rubber compound. The P Zero Race delivers a lot of grip, flexibility and comfort in combination with above-average protection against punctures, high durability and low weight. The P Zero Race TLR is therefore suitable for both training and competition.

Accurate and innovative
Pirelli has fully developed the information on sizing on all types of wheels, the intended use and the tyre pressure in order to make a recommendation as accurate as possible. That is why Pirelli does not conform to the standard dimensions of 23, 25 and 28 mm, but gives the actual tyre size as precisely and accurately as possible on the basis of the latest ETRTO standards. Pirelli supplies a very extensive table with all the information you need for these tires on the packaging made of sustainable cardboard. This allows you to precisely adjust the tyre pressure to the conditions and your own weight to really get the maximum performance from the Race TLR.

Technology

SmartEVO
To get the most out of tubeless technology, Pirelli has further developed its original SmartNET compound into the SmartEVO. This is literally an evolution of the rubber compounds used by Pirelli in motor vehicle racing tyres. SmartEVO uses three different polymers, each with a specific property. This creates an extremely balanced rubber compound that performs optimally on both sides of the spectrum. All this results in improved grip in both dry and wet conditions, more comfort and low rolling resistance.

TechWALL+
TechWALL+ is a completely newly developed casing for tubeless. This carcass has multiple reinforced layers and an additional anti-puncture layer under the tread for superior puncture resistance. According to Pirelli, this casing is the best in its class in terms of the ratio of puncture protection and weight.

Weight:
• 26-622: 270 grams
• 28-622: 295 grams
• 30-622: n.a.
The weight we mention is weighed by the manufacturer and may differ from the actual weight when you weigh the tyre yourself at home. This deviation is usually small and is due to the production process.

Top tyres

- Daniël 19 April 2024

I have the 28 mm version on my Bianchi Oltre Pro bike. After 1 season (6,000 km), the rear tyre was worn out. Front tyre will last a while longer. Super grip (even with lots of rain and wet roads). I myself weigh 85 kg and ride with 5.5 bar pressure in the tyres. Quite comfortable and I haven't had a puncture. Would recommend them to anyone as the better alternative to the Continental GP 5000.

Pros & Cons

As a tubeless puncture-proof tyre
Looks nice
Sticking to the road
Quite pricey

Great tubeless tyre but wears out a bit quickly

- Cédric 15 February 2024

Very good tubeless road tyre. Very fast. The most resistant to cuts and punctures of all the tubeless tyres I've tested. Wears out relatively quickly, however.

Among the very best TL race tyres

- Nicolaj 11 February 2024

Shares first place with the Continental GP5000 as perhaps the very best tubeless race tyre. Fast enough for racing and durable enough for training.
