Pros & Cons
- 220 TPI carcass for extremely low rolling resistance and excellent puncture resistance.
- The laser profile on the edge of the tyre gives you optimal grip on asphalt.
- The 'Active Comfort Layer' has a shock-absorbing effect and dampens vibrations from the road surface, without negatively affecting the rolling resistance.
- Thanks to hookless compatibility, this tyre can be used with hookless rims up to 5 bar and is easier to fit.
- The Vectran anti-puncture strip protects the tyre from punctures.
- Continental compromised on durability with this tyre by focussing more on low rolling resistance, keeping it lightweight and puncture resistant.
- Installing tubeless tyres is generally more difficult and time-consuming than the familiar tyre-and-tube combination.

Description
Description
More stability and comfort
The GP 5000 S TR has an updated carcass, giving the GP 5000 S TR good stability in the bends and at high speeds. The tyre is also equipped with an Active Comfort layer. As the name suggests, Active Comfort ensures a high level of cycling comfort. The Active Comfort layer has a shock absorbing effect and dampens vibrations from the road surface without affecting rolling resistance. The Grand Prix 5000 S TR therefore provides a comfortable ride with optimal rolling resistance.
Excellent puncture protection
Lastly, this Continental tyre has a Vectran anti-puncture strip. This additional inner layer offers improved protection against punctures. Continental claims that the risk of punctures is reduced by 20% compared to its predecessor, the Continental Grand Prix 5000 TL.
With this improvement, Continental makes a significant contribution to the durability of the Grand Prix road bike tyres. With the Grand Prix 5000 S TR, you will be as fast as lightning and as light as a feather!
Technology
LazerGrip technologyContinental has laser-processed the edges of the Grand Prix 5000 S TR for optimal grip on the road surface when cornering. You can really feel the difference at high speeds or in wet conditions!
Active Comfort
This tyre is equipped with a shock absorbing layer directly under its surface. This Active Comfort layer dampens the vibrations from the road surface. The increased comfort level allows you to stay in an aerodynamic position for longer, giving you a riding experience that is unparalleled.
Vectran Breaker layer
The Vectran Breaker layer is an anti-puncture protection layer under the tread. This strip prevents sharp stones, twigs and glass splinters from passing through the outer tyre and reaching the inner tube. With this anti-puncture strip, you can enjoy your ride fully, knowing your tyres are protected against puctures.

Top tyres
Costs more than the other brands, but I can ride more miles with them too. Great tyres for tubeless.

Top band
Top tyre. Excellent quality as always from Continental.
Pros & Cons
3 / 5
Good performance, lousy puncture protection.
Having already ordered a tyre of this type elsewhere and found it to be good after a test ride, I ordered a second one here. Also because the manufacturer's website advertises the oh-so-great puncture protection. Unfortunately, after putting the first tyre on, I got two punctures on gritted cycle paths. Puncture protection is close to zero. I didn't even fit the second tyre. Certainly good for perfectly asphalted paths without grit, but not a tyre for the city in winter.
