A ladies mountain bike has a slightly different geometry than a men's mountain bike. When designing a women's MTB, women's body proportions are taken into account. As a woman you no longer have to make do with a frame that is made for men, but you can choose a MTB for women that fits your body better. That bike will be more comfortable and allows you to keep more control over your mountain bike and thus get more out of yourself. Most brands nowadays have separate women's mountain bikes.
