The Scott Contessa Scale 940 is the ideal mountain bike for all ladies who take their hobby seriously.
Total package
With this mountain bike, you have everything you desire. A good drive group, front fork and excellent disc brakes will give you a lot of fun on all tours.
The base of the Scott Contessa Scale 940 is the aluminium frame, in which the cables are concealed. This provides excellent protection for the cables from precipitation and other dirt. Steering is direct and stable due to the lightweight aluminium frame, so you can keep riding fast. For riding over unpaved paths, a suspension fork is fitted, which handles unevenness in the road excellently. In addition, the front fork has a lock-out. With a lock-out, you can switch off the suspension travel while riding, allowing you to ride anywhere as efficiently as possible. This is because suspension is much less important on tarmac than on dirt roads. Especially for comfort, you have access to a women's saddle. This is specially designed so that you sit comfortably even when going for a long ride.
Smooth shifting
This bike is equipped with the SRAM NX / SX groupset. This group is found on many mountain bikes in this price range and shifts properly. The MTB comes with 12 gears and an 11-50 cassette. This ensures you have a huge gear range, so you can beat your friends even on the steepest trails. Braking is done with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. These brakes deliver excellent stopping power and are easy to modulate. If you ride in bad conditions, you can also rely on the Scott Contessa's excellent brakes.
The tyres
The tyres on this mountain bike are the Maxxis Rekon Race tyres. These tyres are an excellent combination between grip and low rolling resistance. However, you should watch out for riding over very wet conditions, the knobs are just too light for that.
