Technology

Well finished frame
The Scott Contessa Active 40 has a lightweight aluminium frame to ensure very responsive and stable handling. The cables on this MTB are largely concealed in the frame, where they are well protected against splashing dirt and precipitation. In off-road riding, suspension is very important, but on asphalt you do not need it so much. For this reason Scott has mounted a suspension fork with lock-out. It gives you, the rider, the option to lock the suspension travel while cycling. When riding on asphalt, lock the suspension; when riding on unpaved roads, use it if you want to. Thus, the lock-out helps you cycle as efficiently as possible on any surface.
When riding the Active 40, you sit on a saddle that has been specifically designed for women and for long comfortable bike rides.

Safe braking
The Contessa Active 40 has the Shimano Alivio shifting group. This group is a common feature on mountain bikes in this price range, and performs well. This MTB has 18 gears and an 11-36 cassette to give you a large gearing range, so when you come across steep sections you can climb them in your preferred gears. For braking the Contessa has Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, which provide excellent braking performance on dry as well as wet roads. They are also easy to modulate, allowing you to steer into the bends safely and with precision.
