Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • The Maxxis Assegai 3C MaxxTerra EXO+ TR is suitable for enduro and trail on technical descents with tree roots and rocks.
  • The MaxxTerra compound gives you a good balance between durability, grip and speed.
  • Thanks to the EXO+ Protection protective layers, this tyre can take a beating!
  • Tubeless Ready technology makes the tyres easy to make tubeless with 90ml of latex sealant per tyre.
  • Due to the additional protective layers, this tyre's rolling resistance is higher than that of faster Assegai variants.
  • Tubeless sealant should generally be topped up every 3-6 months.

Cycled through mud and over caked snow....safe feeling and good traction!

Exceptional grip for the price of some extra rolling resistance.

- Bram 22 November 2024

If you are looking for incredible grip and are willing to pay the price of extra rolling resistance for it, this is the tyre for you. Even especially if you're a not-so-advanced biker like me who doesn't flatten his bike in corners. Still, you quickly get the grip you need here, unlike, say, the Minion DHF which really only comes into its own if you dare to lay the bike flat in corners (which I don't and can't do) The grip is unseen in different conditions: rock, forest, road, wet, mud (while this is not a mud tyre). Rolling resistance is a lot higher than race tyres, though. So for XC cycling, I definitely wouldn't buy this. I would take this for downhill and enduro, or if, as in my case, you also ride xc, but have an electric mountain bike, then you will only feel that rolling resistance from a slightly faster draining battery.

Pros & Cons

easy to put on
grip is insane
tubeless
not cheap

Best all around mtb tire, for trails to racers, It’s perfect

- D. 24 April 2024

The perfect all around mtb tire. Do keep in mind that this tire is for a rim of > 30. 2.5 is a wt. You can put it on smaller rims also but the profile will be more round and if will be more difficult to get the tire to go in the beat although it will be just fine and I did it many times in the past.

Pros & Cons

Good grip
Good price/ performance
