Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • The internal rim width of 20 mm is 2 mm narrower than that of the CR 1600. This makes for a lighter wheelset and a better fit with 23 and 25 mm tyres.
  • 23 refers to the rim height; 32 is also available. A wheel with a 23 mm rim height is lighter and more comfortable; a wheel with a 32 mm rim height is stiffer and offers better power transfer.
  • The DT Swiss 350 hubs with ratchet system engage quickly, ensuring fast acceleration after taking a turn.
  • The spokes have extra thick ends to reduce the chance of spoke breakage and to allow for a maximum rider weight of 130 kg.
  • The PR 1600 wheels come in a higher segment in the DT Swiss range than the P1800; the former have a better bearing quality, and are lighter and stiffer.
  • Although the weight is relatively low, competition riders may still find the set too heavy. For an even lower weight please refer to the DT Swiss wheelsets in the PRC series.

Perfect for changing

- Ernst 19 January 2024

I was looking for not too expensive road wheels to swap with the carbon wheels (also DT Swiss) on my gravel bike. These aluminium rims are perfect for that.

Lovely nice light wheels.

- J. 11 October 2022

My 2020 Giant Defy has the PR 2 wheels. These are heavy and after 13000 km the rear bearings had to be replaced. So looking for a lighter and better wheelset. Looked at Fulcrum 3 and the DT Swiss 1600 disc spline. The DT Swiss at Mantel is 100 euros cheaper than the Fulcrums, so decision was easy. For the difference immediately ordered the Ultegra brake discs with it. Next day delivery as usual. Although they are tubeless wheels I fitted them with Vittoria Rubino pro g2 which I still had and which had only been ridden 1000km. Fitting with my hands no problem. Ridden over 600km now and they are fine. Acceleration faster, run longer. Also comfortable with the Vittorias. Including discs and tires they are 900 grams lighter than PR 2.

Pros & Cons

DT SWISS, always good
Light, with the 350 hubs
Tight yet comfortable

makes cycling a little easier

- Robert 27 August 2022

With these wheels I saved 210 grams compared to my other set and that is very noticeable , especially because I always have to go over some steep hills The white hubs are nice until after the first polish , when black gets on it is difficult to get it off . If I have to walk on the pedals , uphill , then the wheels don't seem very stiff , Even after re-adjusting the calipers then the discs scuff very slightly . This was not the case with my other set . And it's not that I put so much power on the wheels that it decreases when you reach 70. The tire sinks nicely into the rim , it is less noticeable that there are 32-ers on it .

Pros & Cons

wide inner rim size
not so stiff
