Description

Description

The DT Swiss PR 1600 Spline 23 DB road bike wheels rank, with a weight of just over 1600 grams, among the lighter disc brake wheels in this price segment. Thanks to their low weight, they are suitable for use in hilly areas. Not only will you benefit from the low weight when riding uphill but also on the flat, and your ability to accelerate faster after a turn also increases! As the 23 mm high rims catch little wind, they feel stable on descents. That said, the wheels are slightly less aerodynamic than their 32 mm counterpart.

The combination of the low weight and the use of DT Swiss 350 hubs ensures durability and high quality. Thanks to the ratchet freehub body the wheels accelarate very quickly and so you need little power to speed up. For many years now the DT Swiss hubs have been known for being among the best in terms of durability and sealing.

If you're looking for strong, reliable and light wheels, the DT Swiss PR 1600 Spline 23 disc brake wheelset is a great choice for you!

Technology

DT Swiss 350 hubs
If you are looking for the most affordable high-performance hubs currently available, you should absolutely take a closer look at the 350 hubs. The 350 freehub body performs just as well as a more high-end hub but is built with slightly heavier components to offer the same reliability at a much lower cost. The patented ratchet body system ensures super fast power transfer and guarantees top performance and reliability. This system can be disassembled and maintained without tools.

Pro Lock spoke nipples
Pro Lock is a process in which a patented dual-component liquid adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, allowing for extremely durable wheel constructions. When the nipple is turned onto the spoke, the adhesive is activated and begins to harden. The wheel can still be trued after the glue has fully hardened, with only a minimal loss of locking function. As a result, the wheels maintain much better spoke tension for much longer - up to 20 times more than wheels without Pro Lock nipples.

Tubeless ready
These wheels feature tubeless ready rims that allow for the use of tubeless tyres and liquid latex. A tubeless setup minimises the chance of getting stranded due to a puncture. Should a puncture occur, the sealant will fill it within seconds. Other advantages of tubeless riding include lower rolling resistance, higher comfort and better grip. Of course, you can also choose to fit traditional folding tyres with inner tubes.

Perfect for changing

- Ernst 19 January 2024

I was looking for not too expensive road wheels to swap with the carbon wheels (also DT Swiss) on my gravel bike. These aluminium rims are perfect for that.

Lovely nice light wheels.

- J. 11 October 2022

My 2020 Giant Defy has the PR 2 wheels. These are heavy and after 13000 km the rear bearings had to be replaced. So looking for a lighter and better wheelset. Looked at Fulcrum 3 and the DT Swiss 1600 disc spline. The DT Swiss at Mantel is 100 euros cheaper than the Fulcrums, so decision was easy. For the difference immediately ordered the Ultegra brake discs with it. Next day delivery as usual. Although they are tubeless wheels I fitted them with Vittoria Rubino pro g2 which I still had and which had only been ridden 1000km. Fitting with my hands no problem. Ridden over 600km now and they are fine. Acceleration faster, run longer. Also comfortable with the Vittorias. Including discs and tires they are 900 grams lighter than PR 2.

Pros & Cons

DT SWISS, always good
Light, with the 350 hubs
Tight yet comfortable

makes cycling a little easier

- Robert 27 August 2022

With these wheels I saved 210 grams compared to my other set and that is very noticeable , especially because I always have to go over some steep hills The white hubs are nice until after the first polish , when black gets on it is difficult to get it off . If I have to walk on the pedals , uphill , then the wheels don't seem very stiff , Even after re-adjusting the calipers then the discs scuff very slightly . This was not the case with my other set . And it's not that I put so much power on the wheels that it decreases when you reach 70. The tire sinks nicely into the rim , it is less noticeable that there are 32-ers on it .

Pros & Cons

not so stiff
