This tyre has been treated with a specialised Neoprene silica coating. This means a 0.1 mm thick silica coating has been placed around the tyre, extending its lifespan and preventing mud and dirt from being absorbed by the tyre. That means mud and dirt won't accumulate in and around your tyre, keeping it in top condition.
A cotton carcass
Dugast means suppleness. The cotton carcass is the leader in terms of grip and rolling resistances. For years, you could only experience this by riding with tubes, but due to tubeless tyres that's a thing of the past!

Must be mounted with great sensitivity
I really wanted to try out the tyre and the YouTube video showed that fitting it was child's play. What followed was a drama, which the Mantel team fortunately responded to in a very accommodating manner. It is impossible to fit a tyre without a compressor or booster - the instructions shown in the video with a floor pump are completely unrealistic. And then you have to proceed with a lot of sensitivity so that the pressure does not exceed 1.5 bar - a lot of sealant leaks out. Once you have the tyre reasonably tight, it still requires a lot of force to finally get the tyre bead correctly onto the rim everywhere - all at max. 1.5 bar. All in all, so much sealant leaked out that I had to top up with another 30 ml at the end. Once you've managed all that, however, it's a really nice tyre that's also great to ride.
