Description

Description

The Trek X-Caliber 9 is an excellent mountain bike for those who want to take on the dirt at high speed.

Super solid
Trek has developed a mountain bike that will let you hit the trails with ease. This top model in the X-Caliber series has a super solid aluminium frame that will really make you fly through every turn. Excellent components and suspension elements give you lots of comfort during your rides.

If you're eager to beat your friends on the dirt tracks, you’ll find it hard to find a better aluminium MTB than the Trek X-Caliber 9.

Technology

Very functional frame
The frame of this MTB is made of a lightweight aluminium which gives you direct and stable steering. As the cables run through the frame, they are well protected against dirt and gravel splashing up. The frame has mounting points for a luggage carrier and kickstand; with a few minor adjustments you have a sporty bike for your daily rides. As suspension is an important factor for mountain biking, Trek has installed a RockShox fork with lockout. Lockout gives you the option of blocking the suspension travel as you ride. On asphalt, you'll ride most efficiently without suspension but on dirt roads you’ll be very happy with the excellent suspension on this bike. The lockout, therefore, allows you to cycle as efficiently as possible on any surface.

Smooth gear shifting
The X-Caliber 9 comes with a Shimano XT/SLX drivetrain. This is a high-quality group that allows for fast and smooth gear changes. You have access to 12 gears and a 10-51 cassette, which makes for a large range; thus, you can climb steep hills in pleasant gears. Trek has selected hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano, which provide excellent braking performance and good modulation. If you're riding in bad conditions, you can rely on the excellent stopping power of these disc brakes.

Excellent tyres
The Maxxis Ardent Race tyres on this MTB offer a perfect combination of low rolling resistance and high grip. The tyres and rim are tubeless ready to allow you to ride tubeless if you so choose. Tubeless riding gives you even lower rolling resistance and even better puncture protection.

many technical problemem in the first six months.

- Christiaan 8 December 2022

I have had the Trek X caliber for six months now, but already had many problems with it. I don't use the dropper anymore because sand gets in between and seatpost starts creaking. Within 2 weeks I had to return to Mantel because the front tire was not properly mounted. Also, every bike ride I have to inflate the rear tire first because it is too soft. And within 6 months I have already broken 3 spokes. And Mantel's service is downright bad! For every problem you have to go to the store, only to be told that they don't have the parts in stock or now no time to fix it.

Pros & Cons

frequent spoke breakage
saddle creaks when using dropper regularly

Drives super

- Bram 14 October 2022

Rides super light, perfect shifting and brakes, especially coming from an unsprung 26 inch MTB! No comparison! However, upon delivery I would like to receive more information about suspension (weight of the rider/adjustment of suspension) and inner tube/tubeless suspension.
