The SRAM Red XPLR AXS 1x13 groupset couples the handling and ergonomics of the SRAM RED groupset with the shifting characteristics of the SRAM Transmission groupset. As a result, you get the perfect gravel groupset that is fully ready for rough gravel riding today and always lets you find the right cadence. The new RED eTap shifters have improved ergonomics and allow for one-finger operation of the brakes in all hand positions.
RED Shifters
Besides improved ergonomics, the new RED shifters also offer independent adjustment options in the reach of the brake lever and brake pad engagement point. This makes the shifters suitable for the widest range of hand sizes. The fact that the brake levers are made of carbon has helped to reduce the shifters' weight - they are 83 grams lighter than the previous generation. The Bonus Button on the side gives you the option to shift from a second location or to control an ANT+ device.
13-Speed derailleur and cassette
The new 13-speed derailleur and cassette give you a 460% range with 13 gears. As the cassette is very similar to the mountain bike Transmission cassette, gear shifting under pressure is flawless. The first ten cogs are milled from a single piece of steel and the largest three are made of aluminium. The derailleur uses a strong clutch that ensures the chain stays securely on the front chainring, even on the roughest gravel surfaces. The derailleur must be mounted on a frame with a UDH derailleur hanger to ensure that the derailleur is always in the correct position under the cassette and no adjustment screws are needed. The derailleur is programmed to disengage during an impact to limit damage in the event of a crash.
Calipers and disc brake rotors
The SRAM RED calipers use flatmount mounting. The groupset comes with a 160 and a 140 mm centrelock Paceline X disc brake rotor. The calipers are stiffer and lighter than the previous generation, with greater clearance for the brake pads. This makes adjusting the brakes without them running on a lot easier.
