Description
The Scott Scale 730 -together with the rest of the Scale family- has been known for years as having one of the lightest frames on the market. Scott uses the so-called HMF carbon fibers in their top Scale frames. These fibers are smaller and more refined in their structure, making it possible to create a frameset with more specifically located enhancements. By adding small extra layers of HMF carbon, Scott can create a frame which is strong where it needs to be while keeping the weight down because of the fine HMF structure. It's any manufacturers dream! If you're looking for a fast and cutting-edge racing machine which meets all the current standards, you should definitely consider the Scott Scale 730. We've listed several key properties below to ensure you've got all the information you need.
SDS Shock Damping
These days, it's an art to build a lightweight and rigid hardtail which still manages to stay comfortable. Only the very best manufacturers such as Scott manage to do so. When you put the biggest brains in the business together, seemingly small developments such as the SDS technology see the light of day. SDS Shock Damping is more of a technique than an actual physical development. The SDS principle changes the way carbon frames are built. By using a slightly different carbon lay-up in several key areas of the bike (rear triangle, seat tube), you create a certain amount of natural flex. This reduces the effect of the first 20% of travel of your dampers, putting you on a lightweight, comfortable and rigid frame. The magical 3 things every hardtail tries to posses! It will ensure you and your Scott Scale 730 will become the best of friends.
Shimano components
Your frame might be the best in the world, if your shifting- and braking performance is poor, you're never going to get the dream bike you had in mind. Fortunately, the Shimano components will alleviate any anxiety you might have about this. The Scott Scale 730 uses a combination of Shimano Deore XT and Shimano SLX components. Top-quality Deore XT parts where you need them most, such as the rear derailleur which is the most frequently used part on the bike and therefore needs to be a top quality item. The other components are part of the brilliant mid-range Shimano SLX groupset. In fact, these have been worked to such a degree that they're getting awfully close to the performance of the Deore XT set. We're impressed if you can really spot the difference in performance!
Note: All the bikes sold by Mantel come with the front brake on the left, and the rear brake on the right of the handlebar. If you’re accustomed to another set-up, then consider having this changed by an expert, or take your time to get used to the current set-up.
