Description
The Orange C8 is not only ideal for all practical rides but performs just as well on long tours. With the reliable and flawless 8 speed Shimano Nexus shifting hub you'll be ready for anything. The stable and lightweight aluminium frame has a sophisticated geometry that gives this Gazelle very good ride-characteristics. While stable it is easily manoeuvrable enough to weave through city traffic. In combination with its excellent brakes, it is therefore a safe city bike. In addition, the Gazelle Orange C8 has a suspension seat post and front fork for extra comfort while cycling.
If you are looking for a comfortable and complete city bike, the Gazelle Orange C8 is a very good bike.
Technology
Frame and suspensionThe Gazelle Orange C8 has a striking Gazelle aluminum frame. The low entry variant also has a really nice low entry, so that you can easily get on and off. It is a nice robust frame where the rear carrier seems to come across nicely in one whole. The carrier is sturdy and equipped with a MIK system. With a sprung inner headset and a sprung seat post, this city bike offers a lot of comfort. The posture is easy to adjust with the manually adjustable stem.
Shifting and braking
The Gazelle Orange C8 is slightly more luxurious than its brother; the Orange C7. As you probably already see, unlike the orange C7, this one is now delivered with a Shimano Nexus 8 gear hub. This hub runs very smoothly, so that you can climb the hills a little better and you can also enjoy cycling with a headwind. The chain is kept under tension by the automatic chain tensioner. If you want to cycle through the city or downhill, a good braking system is a must. The Shimano roller brakes with which the Gazelle Orange is sold is an excellent braking system, even under bad weather conditions.
Further assembly
This city bike is equipped with luxurious leather handles so that your hands are optimally supported while cycling. The saddle of the Orange is a luxury saddle from the Selle Royal brand. The headlight of the bicycle is nicely integrated on the front mudguard. This makes it less vulnerable to damage and always well focused. You can simply adjust it using the sliding mechanism on the side of the headlight. The rear light of the Gazelle Orange has a battery. Therefore, especially in winter, do not forget to check whether these need to be replaced. Furthermore, the bicycle is delivered ready to ride with baggage straps, dress guards and an AXA approved ART ring lock. With this AXA Defender lock you have the option of combining a plug-in chain for extra security.

Cycles wonderfully but lighting is not what you expect from it
This is a pleasant bike. Nice and sturdy yet not too heavy. Suspension is comfortable, 8 gears is nice. Chaincase is closed and stretches automatically, therefore very low maintenance. What I am less pleased about is that Gazelle decided to mount another headlight on the fender. The old fendervision with on-off switch has been replaced by one that is always on. So no twilight sensor, no always on. Of course you don't notice it while pedaling, it is driven by the hub. But still it is strange that you cannot turn the headlight on or off. According to the manual you can, but there is just another headlight mounted. Inquiries at Mantel and Gazelle reveal that they decided to "anticipate legislation" requiring the lamp to be on all day. Well I have searched but can find nothing about an intention of such legislation. The rear light does have a switch. This should have been indicated on the website. But also Mantel did not know that Gazelle had used this headlight switch when I called about it. So next summer I will cycle in the burning sun with the headlight on because it cannot be switched off. I find that strange. Furthermore, you have to be very careful when using the speedbinders. It has happened to me a couple of times that the strap just hit the rear light and it falls right off. Fortunately, putting it back on isn't a problem, but in the dark you have to fiddle around a bit before you can do it. In short, nice bike, but lighting is substandard.

Integrated bike light was a nice idea, but poorly designed
I have had good experiences with this bike. It rides well and looks good. But, unfortunately, soon the front fender started rattling irritatingly. To get rid of the constant rattling, I tightened this screw. But alas, the front fender is attached to the integrated front light with a single screw clamping between two pieces of plastic. Success was short-lived. After an afternoon of cycling, the screw worked itself loose again and the rattling is back. I have now been able to reduce the rattle slightly with pieces of rubber, but that should not happen on a brand new bike. Very unfortunate.
