Description
The Cannondale Scalpel HT Carbon 2 is not only very fast, but also quite comfortable. And with its progressive geometry, it handles exceptionally well. Are you looking for a bike that requires few, if any, compromises? Then this is the bike for you.
Progressive carbon frame
The beating heart of the Cannondale Scalpel HT Carbon 2 is its attractive carbon frame. Thanks to the progressive geometry, it handles like the best of them. Due to the slack head angle it feels very stable on technical trails yet also very precise in its steering. The stiffness of the frame makes the Scalpel HT Carbon not only very fast but also comfortable with the special flex zones in the chainstays.
Fantastic fork
With the Lefty Ocho with 100 mm suspension travel, the Cannondale Scalpel HT Carbon 2 has a fork of the highest quality. It is lightweight and stiff and, thanks to the needle bearings, responds very smoothly to let you retain control at all times when going over small and large obstacles and bumps.
Excellent drivetrain
As for the drivetrain, you get what is probably the best setup in terms of price / performance ratio. The XT components shift accurately at all times, even under heavy load. With the 10-51 12-speed cassette combined with the 34-tooth front chainring, you'll be able to find the right gear for any situation.
The brakes are also Shimano XT. They provide a lot of direct stopping power, which most fast and advanced riders will appreciate. That being said, a 160 mm disc brake rotor is a bit on the skinny side for this fast hardtail bike.
Beautiful components
Otherwise this Scalpel HT Carbon 2 is equipped with beautiful components that go well with the rest of the bike. Lightweight Crest MK4 rims with a contemporary 25 mm inner width, carbon handlebars, carbon seat post and very fast Schwalbe Racing tyres. The latter have very low rolling resistance but offer surprisingly good grip, that is, as long as you're not riding on super muddy surfaces.
Cannondale Wheel sensor
This Cannondale bike has another special feature, which is the integrated wheel sensor. It provides accurate data on speed, route and distance, and can be paired with your cycle computer or smartphone via Bluetooth. It registers your bike, indicates service intervals and other information through the free Cannondale app.
All this makes the Cannondale Scalpel HT Carbon 2 a super fast and complete mountain bike.
