Description

Description

The Tacx Neo 2 Smart T2850 2021 bike trainer is a quiet, realistic and precise Tacx turbo trainer. The powerful motor on the Tacx Neo 2 turbo trainer changes resistance smoothly and is very responsive to the virtual terrain. With a maximum power of 2200 watts and a maximum gradient of 25 percent, it's time to go all out in your training room!

What's the difference between the Neo 2 Smart T2850 and the Neo 2T Smart T2875?
The T2850 has been around for some time but received an update this year. As a result, the T2850 now comes with more axles and adapters as standard, making it compatible with most of the bikes out there. The adapters and axles included are now the same on both models. So what is the difference? The Neo 2T Smart T2875 has an improved cadence sensor and a dual-sided power meter. The trainer also adjusts its resistance slightly more gradually while cycling, partly due to an improved chip. These are very nice extras for the discerning user, but for most people there will be little noticeable difference between the two trainers.

Unique features
The Tacx Neo 2 smart trainer has a few unique features that make cycling on a bike trainer even more realistic. Thanks to 'Road Feel', a stretch of cobblestones really does feel like that. The Tacx Neo 2 vibrates to simulate the road surface. And thanks to descent simulation, a descent really is a descent. The Neo 2 trainer literally gives you an extra push when you descend. The bike then works with you and accelerates for you.

Accurate and reliable
The Neo 2 Smart measures your power output with extremely high precision. This ensures you get extremely accurate and reliable training data. This bike trainer measures your power output with an error rate of less than 1%. Furthermore, the Neo 2 Smart trainer does not need to be calibrated.

Interactive
The Tacx Neo 2 Smart is an interactive bike trainer, measuring your speed, cadence and power precisely and allowing the Neo 2 to be fully controlled by the Tacx software and 3rd party apps like Zwift. With ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart, the bike trainer easily connects to computers, smartphones and tablets. So you can enjoy the virtual cycling world and train with the support of your favourite training apps.

Technology

Road Feel
Experience the vibrating sensation of cycling over pebbles, gravel and other surfaces. This feature works with Tacx Films and Zwift. Experience the exhilarating sensation of accelerating downhill with the Downhill Simulation. With the NEO 2 Smart you experience this unique feeling.

Dynamic inertia
Thanks to dynamic inertia, cycling is more realistic than ever. Unlike a flywheel, dynamic inertia compensates for weight, speed and angle of inclination. Reality has never been equalled like this before.

Pedal stroke analysis
This feature maps out your pedal rotations. By placing a detection sensor on both the left and right side, the Neo 2 can determine the exact position of both legs. This allows the bike trainer to create a detailed and accurate overview of your pedal rotation, enabling you to get even more out of your power transfer and cycling performance. Link your Tacx Neo 2 turbo trainer to the Tacx Software and you will see exactly how much power you exert in which pedal phase.

Self-sufficient power
The Neo 2 Smart does not require a power source. Instead it can generate its own power while cycling. This allows you to train whenever and wherever you want, such as on holiday or at a training camp.

Connectivity
The Neo 2 Smart connects wirelessly to other devices via ANT+ and Bluetooth, so that you can use the Neo 2 with your favourite training applications. The LED indicators on the side show when the turbo trainer is connected to another device via ANT+ or Bluetooth Smart.

Maintenance-free
The Neo 2 Smart requires no maintenance or calibration. You can start training right away.

Flexible and foldable frame
The frame of the Neo 2 Smart can move a few degrees to the left and right. It follows the natural movement of the body, which ensures an even better cycling experience. In addition, the frame is easy to fold and transport thanks to the two handles: ideal if you want to take the Tacx with you.

Stand alone training
The Smart electronics also make it possible to train without the use of software or programmes. The resistance is simulated by a progressive resistance curve: as you cycle faster, the resistance increases.

Compatibility

Tacx Desktop app
To support your training sessions and improve your condition, Tacx has developed an app with the Tacx training software you are used to. In the free features, you can create your own training sessions and cycle freely, but not yet with Tacx films or in a virtual reality environment. Besides creating training sessions, you can analyse your data, you have access to a dashboard with statistics, you can export data to Garmin Connect or Strava and you can follow your friends. With the Tacx Utility App you can also easily update the firmware to the most recent version. This way you will always have the latest version, with the latest improvements and functions. You will be notified as soon as a new update is available.

User tips

If you need to purchase a cassette for the trainer, first check on your bike at home how many gears your cassette has and possibly also the teeth, so that you know what you need. For example : 11-25 or 11-28 and so on.

Would you like to convert the trainer to 12-speed for Sram XD or XD-R? Then you need to purchase this body.

Frequently asked questions

Will my bike with disc brakes fit the Tacx bike trainer? .
Yes, disc brakes are no problem. However, it is important that the fit of the axle matches. The trainer comes standard with adapters for 142x12 mm and 148x12 mm thru-axle. You use these adapters in combination with your bike's thru-axle.

Does it come with a cassette as standard?
No, the cassette is not included.

You will need the same type of cassette as what's on your bike to shift smoothly. However, the question remains whether this cassette will fit your cycletrainer. To determine that, we look at the brand of the cassette, and then at the number of gears. Does your bike have a Shimano or SRAM cassette? And one with 8 to 11 sprockets? Then your cassette will fit this bike trainer as standard. Depending on the cassette, you will need to put some spacers on the trainer body. Do you have a 12-speed cassette from SRAM on your bike? Then you will first need to install this SRAM XD/XD-R body on your trainer. Do you have a 12-speed cassette from Shimano? Then you need to install this Micro-Spline Body first.

What tools do I need to install a cassette on my bike trainer?.
To install your cassette, you will need a chain whip and a cassette removal tool. You can find these tools here. You can read more about installing a cassette in this blog.

Can I use my bike with Campagnolo in combination with this trainer?
Yes, you can with 9-12 speed groups. But you will first need to install this Campagnolo body on your bike trainer.

What wheel sizes are suitable for this trainer?
28 and 29-inch wheel sizes are suitable for this trainer. Do you have a smaller wheel size? Then you will need a front wheel support to use the trainer.

Quiet, easy to use and connect

- Franck 16 April 2024

Received 1 week ago, used only 1 time when the weather was not suitable for a workout and perfect.

Simply effective.

- Thierry 20 March 2024

The sensations of road rendering, climbs and descents are very realistic. What's more, unlike traditional rollers, the downhill sections allow you to recover, which is a real plus. For getting back into shape or riding when the weather doesn't allow it, for effective training or simply if you prefer to stay at home, this is the ideal home trainer. Finally convinced. What's more, with Tacx Training, you can travel the world... What else?

Very good home trainer

- Yoann 13 March 2024

It's an excellent home trainer, with a very realistic feel both in terms of resistance and the feel of the wheel (vibration depending on the surface). One small negative point: the power cable, which seems fragile and too exposed to knocks. Personally, I unplug it after each use. This home trainer is excellent and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
