The Shimano XT WH-M8100 MTB wheels are a reliable choice. They give you great control on technical trails and are light enough for hilly terrain. The Shimano XT M8100 MTB wheels feel stiff when accelerating after a bend, and comfortable on uneven surfaces. The double-butted straightpull spokes prevent spoke breakage because they are thicker at the attachment points. This increases the wheels' durability and reliability significantly.
Tubeless ready
These wheels have tubeless rims to allow you to ride with tubeless tyres and liquid latex. With this set-up, you avoid punctures and, should a tyre still go flat, the latex fills the hole within seconds. Of course, it is also possible to fit your trusty old folding tyres and inner tubes.
Microspline freehub
The rear wheel has a Shimano Microspline freehub body, which is only compatible with Shimano 12-speed cassettes. This type of freehub prevents the cassette from eating into the body, making it easy to remove the cassette in due time. The Microspline freehub engages quickly and accurately thanks to the ratchet system. And with the 9 degree angle, you can speed up very fast indeed.
Some 12 speed cassettes must be mounted on the 10/11 speed Shimano/SRAM freehub body. These are SRAM NX Eagle PG-1230 cassettes and almost all other 12 speed MTB cassettes with 11 as the smallest sprocket. MTB cassettes with 10 as the smallest sprocket need a special freehub body. For Shimano this is a Micro-Spline freehub and for SRAM an XD freehub.
