Description
Description
The Shimano 105 R7100 Front derailleur is part of the Shimano R7120 12-speed mechanical groupset. The Shimano 105 R7100 mechanical front derailleur shifts smoothly and directly. As a result, there is no delay in shifting which was sometimes noticeable with 11-speed. Also, you can simply keep pressure on the pedals during your shifts.
Before you start (dis)assembling, shift the front derailleur to the smallest blade. That way, the tension on the shift cable will be smaller, making it easier to release the front derailleur.
Loosen the shift cable
Use an Allen key to loosen the shift cable from the derailleur. An Allen key can be found here.
Demount the chain
Before you can dismantle the derailleur, you also need to dismantle the chain. For this, you will need a chain breaker or missing link pliers. The chain breaker can be found here and the missing link pliers can be found here.
Position the front derailleur
When mounting, make sure you keep a space of about 2 mm between the outer edge of the derailleur and the largest chainring.
Adjust your derailleur
It is important to adjust the derailleur properly after fitting. This is a precise job, which you can read more about here.
