Excellent heat dissipation thanks to ICE Technology
The Shimano RT-MT900 disc brake rotor has excellent heat dissipation thanks to Shimano's ICE Technology Freeza. This means that the disc brake rotor consists of 3 layers: stainless steel, aluminium, and stainless steel again. In this construction, the aluminium layer is connected to cooling fins on the rotor to dissipate heat generated on the steel layers by braking. Because of this type of heat dissipation, the Shimano RT-MT900 disc brake rotor delivers excellent braking performance in all conditions and is much less likely to fade on a descent.

Low weight and a stiff and open construction
As described above, the braking surface of this disc brake rotor consists of stainless steel while the rest of the disc is made of aluminium. This keeps the weight down without affecting braking performance. In addition, as the aluminium construction is reinforced, the disc deforms much less than other brake rotors, even when you brake a lot. As a result, braking power remains good and the disc is less likely to rub. Finally, with an open construction the rotor is less affected by crosswinds than rotors with a closed surface.

How do I mount a brake disc?
For disc brake rotors, there are 2 different ways of mounting depending on the washer. One washer type has an internal fit that you can tighten with a cassette key without a pin. If the inside of the key is open, it can reach far enough over the wheel axle. The other washer type has an external fit that you can with a bottom bracket key.
