Climbing and flat
As well as being an excellent climbing bike, the Trek Émonda is also wonderfully fast on the flat. The Émonda SL 5 Disc is a carbon road bike that has achieved the right balance in ride quality, equipment and aerodynamics.
The Trek Émonda SL 5 has a very nicely designed frame. The frame is aerodynamically shaped, making the Émonda is extremely fast on the flat. And with very good handling.
Geometry
Trek's H1.5 geometry allows for a sporty riding position without being uncomfortable. This geometry is the ideal middle ground between the comfort-oriented H2 geometry and the aggressive H1 geometry. The brake and shifting cables are routed through the head tube in an attractive, almost invisible, way. Besides being prettier, this also delivers aerodynamic benefits.
Sturdy Shimano 105 equipment
For the Émonda SL 5's equipment, Trek opted for the super reliable Shimano 105 R7000 groupset. Maybe not as sexy as its more expensive brothers, but almost as good. The 105 drivetrain is slightly heavier than the Ultegra and Dura-Ace ones. With the compact 50/34 crankset and the 11-30 cassette, the Émonda is also suitable for serious climbing.
Bontrager parts
Trek has been using its own Bontrager components for some time now. Likewise again for the SL 5. The Affinity Disc wheelset is sturdy and tubeless ready, ready for many fast kilometres of carefree cycling pleasure. The rest of the components such as handlebars, saddle and stem are also from Bontrager.

The Trek Emonda SL5 is not just any bike, it is a promise of freedom on two wheels. Affordable address
Mantel replaced the stem that was too long compared to the superstore Arnhem. In the showroom I saw that my 10-day-old Trek was offered for €300 less than the internet offer. Quickly settled and got this amount back within a day and the internet offer was iddly adjusted.

Fantastic bike! Despite being a performance model, it is still very comfortable, a good combination of performance and comfort. And so light

Stiff and strong frameset with unfortunately some downsides
In the grey version, the top tube is untreated and the carbon is visible. Unfortunately, the transition to the painted part is a bit ragged and the red decal on the top tube is very prone to damage. There is also a dark fibre running down the tube so it looks like there is a crack in the frame. In the blue version, everything is nicely painted along. So in hindsight, the blue would have been a better choice. The saddle was unfortunately too wide for me. The tyres run a bit heavy and I replaced them immediately. The new 105 front derailleur has a trim setting. Despite having only 2 front blades, this function is apparently necessary. However, the front derailleur kept catching on, but now functions well after 2 adjustments by the Mantel mechanic. Service from Mantel is top notch! With my old Ultegra, switching gears with the front derailleur was a bit easier.... But what a great frame! Rides great! Am all in all very satisfied with my new racing machine.... The lifetime warranty on the frame is also a plus.
