Better a breaking pin
I use many chains with a shear pin on my 10-speed bike which, missing link links are just a bit too wide which makes shifting uncomfortable.

Horribly bad
you can see immediately that it is worthless quality. Fitted (put the shear pin in often enough) and after 200m the chain was already broken. the shear pin broke without me even touching it, then so the chain was fixed, but after 200m it was already in pieces.
