Great grip but with loss of rolling pace
I found that the grip on the front of my bike with the assegai fitted is unreal !! The compound is really soft so have noticed that the rolling pace of the wheel is a fair bit slower than the Goodyear escape that were fitted to my bike, so have found that I’m having to pedal a bit more on flats. Overall it’s an 8 from me !

Excellent tyres for enduro type riding
Grippiest tyre I've used at the expense of drag and rolling resistance

Top tyres!
I purchased these tyres for both tyres, in front it does its job perfectly just for the rear another "harder" tyre is recommended!

Best Grip
High grip performance unfortunately comes with some drag in sticky mud. Dry rolling very good.

Good all round enduro/downhill tire
Good all round tire but does clog in mud and loam. The previous dhf clears better in these conditions but I'll be switching to my shorty on the front now we are approaching winter in the UK. Great grip across the majority of conditions, both better than the dhf and dhr I've used and a lot less dead space when leaning compared to the dhf. It's not long been fitted so can't comment on the maxxgrip wear rate but as a front tire I'd rather have the grip!

Best tyre I've ever used
I normally run a DHF all year round on the front but due how wet its been and a new riding location there just wasnt enough braking grip. Put this tyre on the front and its amazing. Il most likely run it all year round now as its seems very capable at everything.

I can't think of a better front tyre!
This tyre is replacing one of the exact same compound/construction that is a year old. It's been used a lot, yet the sidewalls are still in great condition (with no tears/damage) and there's still life left in the tread. The only reason I'm replacing it is as we roll into winter, some fresh tread would be handy for a bit more grip. I was worried the MaxxGrip compound wouldn't last long, but it's held up just fine - I paired it with a DHR II in MaxxTerra and they both wore at a fairly similar rate. Overall, it's a great tyre - aside from possibly making a slightly wider version, I can't really think of how Maxxis could improve it. Incredible grip in all but the wettest/muddiest conditions, a nice and supportive sidewall, great grip combined with remarkable durability - it's just a top quality tyre!

Fantastic grip
Fitted these to my bike along with tyre inserts, running lower pressures & the grip is fantastic, mud, roots, stones not a worry anymore

Perfect all rounder
Exactly what you want and a whole lot more. Confidence inspiring grip in a carcass that should tolerate the abuse it's destined for. Certainly a worthy replacement for anyone who's been using the infamous DHF for the past 20 years, the main difference I'd say is the continued grip as the tyre leans, where the DHF almost skids until the corners bite in again. Would I go back to a DHF? No. Is this Tyre in high demand? Yes. So be prepared to pay full price, and cross your fingers for stock availability. Also, bear in mind for some wide rims (the i35 in my case) with inserts, the DD casing can be a bit of a struggle some times to fit. Patience is key, but once on inflate with zero issues. There's no 'sweat' from the sealant, and has held pressure for over a week so far without any adjustment. Using this in conjunction with a DHRII (also DD and MaxxGrip) which is ideal for the wetter conditions here in the UK and for a larger rider. If there's ever a sale on these tyres, be sure to grab a spare set for the upcoming season, everyone deserves a fresh set of rubber every once and a while!

Does everything right.
Just a great tyre! I use this on the front paired with a DHR II on the rear. I ride mainly natural trails, so a lot of rocks/roots/off-camber and in all but the worst conditions the Assegai gives masses of grip. It's just a great tyre! I've been using them for the past year and a half, and haven't had a single puncture yet. They set up super easily tubeless, have a good profile, and give great damping on chattery trails. I could probably get away with dropping to an EXO or EXO+ casing, but the security of the Double Down casing is too good to pass up.

Great all round Enduro/Dh tyre
The Assagi Dd is a great all round tyre for dh and enduro! Amazing grip in lose and loamy stuff whilst still grabbing onto wet ricks and roots!
Pros & Cons

Amazing grip from this tyre, it’s the new DHF up top!
The Assegai is a phenomenal tyre up top, amazing grip in all bar the most extreme conditions (slop and snow) used it for 3yrs in the Peaks in the U.K. and also Portugal and Spain, it just performs. The DD variant does add a bit of weight, but for the puncture protection it offers, it’s a no brainer for me.

Does what needs to be done.
Been riding with this all-round tyre for trail/enduro for a while now, I like it, only now I bought the dd version for spare. On the expensive side, but there are regular promotions on these so you can always put a bath on them.

Works as expected.
Great tyre. In the worst weather conditions, it doesn't show any weaknesses. Only when the mud gets deeper is it no longer its world. But still predictable and controllable.
