Great bike for years to come.
Meanwhile, I have made the first ride home (about 25km) with the Gazelle Avignon C5 size 61. I am 188cm myself and sit fine on this bike. As soon as you turn off the motor, it is still fine to ride, but you do notice that it is an electric bike with some resistance. The 4 settings on the bike are very noticeable. I rode the first part in eco mode and then a bit in Tour mode. Personally, I find eco mode a nice mode to ride in, but uphill I prefer to switch to Tour mode and one gear lower. You also have the 'luxury' auto mode, which adjusts the pedal assist while cycling, and Turbo mode. I haven't used the latter two much. You notice with Turbo mode that the bike pulls away like a rocket. In my opinion, not necessary. The large tyres and solid frame make this a reliable bike. On the way, I rode over 2 bridges and I noticed that the bike did have to put in some effort to get over the bridge but it can easily handle it due to its 75nm motor. That was also one of the reasons I chose the Avignon C5. The other reason is the trusted Shimano Nexus hub with five gears especially for electric bikes. Another option was a bike with Enviolo hub, but on various forums and YouTube I soon found out that this hub wears out certain wear patterns in the so-called 'planets' with little shifting, making shifting impossible or more difficult (more difficult). More on this in the YouTube video 'WHEN DOES THE RANGE OF AN ENVIOLO SHIFTING HUB Diminish?' The price of this Enviolo hub is therefore slightly higher in purchase and maintenance. If you want to put the bike away in an NS bike locker, you do have a challenge with size 61 bike. I have since tested that this bike does not fit in very well. The bike is 1 or 2 cm too long for the bike locker, making the door almost impossible to close. As a result, the mudguard will be pushed in slightly by the door. I also have to change the position of the little computer at the top as otherwise it will collide with the top of the locker. This could be solved by adjusting the handlebars, bars or holder. I solved it by pushing the computer backwards. Other than that, I am happy with this bike for now and hope to ride quite a few more kilometres.
