Description
The Cannondale Canvas Neo 2 looks just as cool and sporty as you'll feel when you're riding it. It is a fast commuter bike that will make you enjoy every ride and feel amazed by its great comfort and the ease with which it eats the miles away.
Sporty looks and functional comfort
It's hard to find a sportier look in an electric bike than the Cannondale Canvas Neo 2. The frame of this e-bike is based on that of a mountain bike. The long seat post makes the rider sit in a less sporty position than on an MTB, which makes for a very comfortable ride. The stiff carbon fork makes steering pleasant and precise, and the thick tyres provide plenty of damping. Thus, with this sporty electric bike the ride to work or any recreational ride will be very comfortable and as quick as you want it to be.
If you are looking for a fast e-bike with a cool appearance, the Cannondale Canvas Neo 2 may be a great choice for you.
The frame of the Cannondale Neo 2 has been made using the advanced SmartForm technology with a varying thickness of the tube material. While the tubes are thick where there is much pressure on them, they are thin where they can be. This has created a sporty and relatively light frame, which you don't see often in electric city bikes in this way.
The bike is also equipped with an oversized, straight carbon fork for precise handling. It also provides better damping and is slightly lighter than an aluminium fork.
To create not only a sporty bike but a comfortable one as well, Cannondale has mounted 60 mm wide tyres, which roll very well through the corners as well as on straight stretches. Of course, they also handle unevennesses smoothly. This compensates the lack of suspension somewhat. The fact that the axle of the front wheel is positioned just a bit in front of the fork's centre line makes the steering very precise, which is very pleasant for sporty riders.
E-bike technology
As a sporty e-bike like this deserves a powerful motor, the Bosch Performance Line mid-mounted motor has been chosen, which has 65 Nm of torque. This makes the bike suitable for long, sporty rides.
In combination with the 500 Wh Powertube battery, Bosch expects a realistic range of about 90 kilometres, taking into account the wide tyres, the type of bike, varying terrain and a total weight of rider, luggage and bike of just over 100 kilograms. A longer tour ride during the weekend or the daily commute to work is perfectly doable with this range, with the power of the motor enabling the rider to conquer the odd hill.
The display is a Bosch Purion, the most basic Bosch variant, which is sufficiently ease to use and has less extensive functions. Switch between the different assistance modes with a push of the left thumb button.
Shifting and braking
The Cannondale Canvas Neo 2 has a Shimano Alivio 9-speed rear derailleur. The 11-36 cassette delivers a gear range of 327%, just a bit more than the commonly used Shimano Nexus 8 hubs.
The hydraulic Shimano MT200 disc brakes have 180 mm discs, providing ample braking power and good control. Thus, you can be sure that braking performance is good and that you'll be safe in traffic.
Other parts
The Canvas Neo 2's sporty character is also evident in its other components. The Cannondale Ergo Urban saddle is relatively hard but therefore suitable for the sporty commuter. In addition, the bike has a wide, straight handlebar, which makes for very stable handling. A striking feature of the appearance of the bike is its champagne colour that creates a clear contrast with the bike's graphite-coloured elements. These elements are reflective, increasing visibility in dark conditions. Another eye-catching detail is the aluminium mudguards. The rear light is integrated in the rear mudguard, as is a rack for mounting panniers. Please note that each side of the rack has an 8 kg maximum capacity, i.e. 16 kgs in total.
- Battery: Bosch PowerTube 500Wh
- Display: Bosch Purion
If possible, charge your battery at room temperature. If outside temperatures drop below zero, we recommend removing the battery and storing it inside.
Do not store the battery empty. If you plan not to use your e-bike for a longer period of time, we recommend storing the battery at room temperature around 60% full. Charge the battery occasionally (once a month) to ensure that it lasts as long as possible.
Maintenance of gear parts and brakes
We recommend a regular cleaning of the chain and derailleur for optimum durability and efficiency. As for the hydraulic disc brakes, we recommend cleaning those hardly ever, as contamination with grease and detergents may impair braking performance. If you do want to clean the brake discs, we recommend doing so with a dry paper towel. Try not to touch the discs with your fingers.
Tyre pressure
Having the right tyre pressure is important. The wrong tyre pressure may cause punctures, more wear, rim damage when the pressure is low, and uncomfortable handling. For most e-bikes, tyre pressure is between 3.5 and 6 bar. The recommended pressure for your tyres should be printed on their sidewall.
General maintenance tip
While you can do a lot of maintenance work yourself, it may be wise to have it checked by a bicycle mechanic.
First servicing
We recommend that you schedule your first servicing after around 500 km. You can schedule an appointment with our workshops in one of our Superstores or service stations online. Servicing costs start at €55.
