Good value for money
If you want to start mountain biking, this is a great mountain bike at a competitive price. This year, Trek have opted for a better drivetrain than the ones found on previous models and you'll notice this during your rides.
Technology
Light frameA light aluminium frame forms the basis of this MTB. The cable run through the frame, which protects them well from splashing dirt. The Marlin 6 has a suspension fork with lock-out, allowing you to adjust the suspension travel during your ride, providing better power transfer on flat (paved) surfaces.
Smooth shifting and braking
Trek has opted for a Shimano drivetrain. The Marlin 6 has a 1x10 setup with a wide gear range thanks to the 11-46 cassette. The Trek Marlin 6 comes with hydraulic disc brakes from Tektro. These brakes give the mountain bike plenty of stopping power, even when the weather conditions are bad.
Versity of the Marlin
It's easy to convert this MTB into a daily commuter. There are mounting points to fit mudguards and a carrier. It is also possible to mount a stand so you can easily park the bike somewhere.

Excellent for beginners and just beyond!
Very good price for such a fine bike. This mtb has everything I am looking for. I am no longer a beginner but certainly not a very experienced mtb'er either (about 10x a year). Was in doubt about the size of the lightest gear but it is fine, especially for routes in NL. Especially the smooth shifting and stability surprised me positively and make me enthusiastic about this bike. About the durability I can't say anything yet but after 3 tough rounds I give 5 stars.
Pros & Cons
3 / 5
Fine staff, poor delivery of bikes
I was helped well in the store, however the bike gave an irritating noise after only 2 times cycling. I went back to the store, where it turned out it was badly adjusted and did not shift properly and they adjusted it. Unfortunately due to the noise in the store it was hard to hear if it was gone and I went home. Upon home testing, the problem did not appear to be fixed and I just recorded the sound on the phone. I had to record hours from work to get back and it turned out the spokes were too slack in tension. Can happen I thought and problem is fixed now. A week later my brother also bought a bike and it too was not good upon delivery. Brakes were ticking or gave a strange noise and he too had to return to the store where they spent an hour working on it. There is still a tick in it, but he has to watch that now and if that doesn't go away in a few weeks he has to go back again. The staff in the store is friendly and very helpful, but I do think it's a bad thing that you buy 2 new bikes and immediately spend a lot of time afterwards because the adjustments were not right.
