Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • Your chain will shift very smoothly and quickly on this cassette, even under immense pressure! This is due to the high-quality grinding.
  • This cassette is lightweight. This is due to the use of light materials and the grinding away of superfluous material.
  • This cassette has a superior coating, which increases its durability.
  • Only the first 3 sprockets are on a spider. Therefore, this cassette will eat into your freehub faster than the Shimano HG500 cassette.

Description

Description

The Shimano Ultegra 6700 cassette is suitable for 10-speed systems. It ensures perfect shifting performance even in the most extreme and demanding circumstances.

Technology

Lighter and faster shifting thanks to special tooth profiles
The largest sprockets are mounted on a lightweight aluminium spider to save weight and optimise rigidity. The durability of the cassette has also been taken into consideration - it is made of anodised steel, which is light yet strong!

Gearing and weight including washer:
• 11/23: 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23 – 206 grams*
• 11/25: 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25 – 225 grams*
• 11/28: 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-28 – 236 grams*
• 12/25: 12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25 – 235 grams*
• 12/30: 12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-27-30 – 272 grams*

• Hyper Glide sprockets designed to reduce weight, with an improved tooth shape which allows more accurate shifting and less wear
• A nickel finish provides durable corrosion protection
• Structure large to small: 3+1+1+1+1+1+1+1
• Number of single components: 8
• Material: nickel-plated steel

Assembly

Mounting with special tools
To assemble and disassemble this cassette you will need specific cassette tools. These can be found here.

Don't forget the assembly grease!
The lockring on your cassette should be tightened well, in most cases even up to 40Nm. To be able to loosen the cassette, we recommend that you apply a little bit of assembly paste to the lockring. Our assembly greases can be found here.

User tips

How often should I clean my bike? Regular cleaning ensures that your material lasts longer and that you can enjoy your cycling for longer. How often you need to clean depends very much on the weather conditions in which you ride. Do you ride in all kinds of weather, or only go out when the sun is shining? This affects the degree of wear and tear, and therefore some people will have to clean their bikes more often than others. Use the schedule below as a guide:

October to March:
• Clean every 200 km
• Rinse after every ride
• Dry and oil the chain after every ride
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

April to September:
• Clean every 300 km
• Rinse after cycling in the rain
• Dry and oil the chain after polishing or rinsing
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

I cycle much more relaxed again!

- Aad 17 April 2024

I had on my e-bike a Shimano Deore 10-speed cassette with 11 to 42 teeth, the smallest sprockets of which were worn out. In practice, you hardly need the low gears from 17 teeth upwards because of the pedal assistance. I have now opted for a Shimano Ultegra, which has more small cogs of 11,12,13,14 and 15 teeth and then 5 larger ones up to 28 teeth. Moreover, the gears of the Ultegra are more wear-resistant.

Pros & Cons

Quality
Small steps between high gears
Wear-resistant

Good quality cassette with long range

- Jasper 10 December 2023

Bought to put on my trainer. Shimano Ultegra might be a bit on the expensive side for on a trainer, but it's handy to have the same cassette as on the bike. No need to adjust every time you switch between outside and inside. However, I did need spacers to align the cassette (many trainers are fitted for 11-speed as standard) which unfortunately were not in stock. Once fitted, it runs like a charm. Unfortunately, the excuses are now out the door if I get wrecked again.

Pros & Cons

Rides particularly smoothly
Shimano Ultegra quality
Wide-range cassette
10-speed, so spacers needed on many trainers
No more excuses
