Good gravel tyre at competitive price

- Sjoerd, 21 April, 2025

Chosen obv reviews in trade magazine. To replace Bontrager GR2 Team Issue 700X40C Skinwall 18/4 Received new ones under warranty. First set from 05/2023 appeared to have become porous, spring 2025: latex pressed through skinwall! Tyre pressure dropped from 3.5 bar to zero within 4 days. 21/4 New set put on with Vittoria Airliners - no ride yet. Tyres are still under pressure. PS: Airliners work better with 40mm tyres!

Pros & Cons

Compatible with unpaved rides (training, tour)
Dutch manufacturer
Reasonably priced vs quality
Skinwall looks good on gravel bikes
Need to regain confidence in tyre pressure
Turned out to be porous - see photo

Highly recommended

- Guido, 8 April, 2025

Lots of traction on gravel paths, you don't slip and you can go a bit harder through corners compared to my previous outer tyres.

Pros & Cons

Best all-round gravel tyre

- Markus, 31 March, 2025

My favourite gravel tyre. The last pair lasted about 5000 km without a single puncture! Rolls super smoothly with a latex or TPU tube. Easy to fit. Good wear resistance. Very comfortable in 44 width.

What a super all-round gravel tyre

- Ruben, 29 October, 2024

The 38mm version is completely in line with expectations. Quite comfortable tyre that you can get on well even on singletracks.

Pros & Cons

Real all-round bike tyre for mud and dirt roads
Riding surface in the middle of the tyre good on asphalt
Extremely tight tyre to put on the rim

Nice all-rounder (despite bad luck)

- Lennert, 26 October, 2024

Big crack after 3rd gravel ride. Hopefully a rare case of pure bad luck, as it really did roll nicely over gravel paths, in the forest and on asphalt. I'll order it again because first impressions were good though. Also looks nice with brown skinwall under black Trek Domane.

Pros & Cons

Easy to fit
Good grip
Rolls well over asphalt
Tear sensitive

Good gravel tyre at the competitive price.

- Henk, 12 October, 2024

To replace the original Bontrager tyres on my TREK, I ended up with these tyres via fiets.nl's test. During the first ride, I was surprised by the grip and rolling resistance of these tyres. On a mountain bike course with nice single tracks, I was not afraid for a moment that I would lose grip. On the road, rolling resistance was not disappointing either. Tubeless mounting was also very easy. Without fluid, I didn't even have a leak. What is a pity is that they are only offered in two widths. Although 38 mm is sufficient in most cases, I opted for the 44 mm so that I can also cope with rougher terrain. 40 mm would have been nicer in my opinion. Finally, the decals on the tyres. In my opinion, the brand name should have been on the same spot so that they are visible at the valve from both sides (see photos). The tyre would then have been perfect (therefore 4 stars).

Pros & Cons

Easy to mount
Grip
Tubeless making easy
Decalls not in sync

Great tyre at great price.

- Koen, 4 July, 2024

Bought this tyre to replace the Schwalbe G-One bite. Have only just put it on but it rolls fine on the road, have yet to test it on gravel. Got the tyre on the rim very easily and even without sealant the tyre did not deflate noticeably. I also did not need to use the tyre booster to get the tyre on the rim properly, which was necessary with the schwalbe.

Easy to mount
Price
Rolls well

Ideal tyre for gravel in the Netherlands especially with combination asphalt and road.

- Paul, 15 March, 2024

Recommended for dry surfaces.

- Nico, 29 January, 2024

Very smooth fitting at a 45-minute squeak with just a floor pump. Rolling resistance is formidable on asphalt and light forest trails, on more humid or muddy trails grip will perhaps be worse despite the larger profile on outer edges of the tyre.

Pros & Cons

Easy assembly with floor pump
Good grip on sand/forest paths
Hardly loses any pressure
Very low rolling resistance on asphalt
After 500km still not found.

Beautiful all-round gravel tyre from Dutch soil

- Joost, 2 November, 2023

Tyre that lives up to expectations. Falls a little short on the really rough stuff but that is to be expected given the studded tread.

Rolls smoothly over asphalt
Holds pressure less well when tubeless

- Marco, 17 October, 2023

Lovely running tyre, nice tread and all the grip needed.

- Jeffrie, 2 September, 2023

A lovely all-round tyre, rolls nicely, sits nicely around the rim. After good degreasing with soapy water, both rim and tyre, got tubeless airtight with normal foot pump. The rear tyre needed a bit more convincing with compressor. Then left perfectly airtight for a day and only then added latex (Dynamic bikecare). And finally rode a successful practical test, Gravelty Oosterbeek. Before this I rode the 38mm with inner tube, also great, but wanted to be perfectly prepared for upcoming The Ride Gravel.

Pros & Cons

Advice from an experienced gravel rider: good latex
Got tubeless airtight easily
Great tread from different compounds
Looks great in brown version
So far none experienced, after The Ride Gravel ?

Super satisfied with this all-round gravel tire

- Mark, 20 June, 2022

I had purchased these tires for my Decathlon Riverside that I use both for transportation and cycling in the great outdoors. I wanted a tire that would allow me to go into the woods as well as not have too much rolling resistance on asphalt. I went for the 38mm width, and these tires fulfill that task perfectly! I can ride in the woods just fine and keep a good grip on sand, forest trails, gravel and soggy grass. Short stretches through mud, and the occasional MTB route also go fine. On really loose dry sand, they slip a little every now and then, but not to the point that I immediately go under. All in all, I am super satisfied and can definitely recommend them! It's too early to say anything about puncture resistance or wear.

Pros & Cons

Good grip on different surfaces
Low rolling resistance on asphalt
Relatively easy to fit

Good overall

- Stéphane, 13 May, 2022

The tire is very, very good... For dry weather, however, for the mounting, I had to go over it several times, and with great difficulty to mount the tire entirely on the rim ... I really fear a puncture, I would not know how to reassemble it while being on the road and in a less comfortable position.

Pros & Cons

A more than fair price
A very good tire for summer and dry weather
Very difficult to mount

Just what I was looking for

- Twan, 17 January, 2022

Fast on paved surfaces, plenty of grip when needed. A muddy forest path may be a bridge too far, but otherwise the Aventura is a winner! I ride this (44mm) tire tubeless, after almost 4000 kilometers 0.0 problems. The rear tire is now starting to show some wear. Next round I will go for these Vredesteins again, but the skinwall variant. Lovely ride on this Dutch tire!

Just what I need

- Gert-Jan, 19 March, 2021

Long in doubt which tire to get for my gravel/cross/road bike. In the end I chose the Aventura because the tread seemed to fit my needs, it is tubeless ready, it is reasonably priced and a little bit because Vredestein is a Dutch company ;-) I have now ridden about 300 km, 80% offroad/MTB routes and 20% paved, and I have nothing to be desired. Of course I can't say anything about durability and puncture resistance yet.
