Inferior to a Shimano XT (or XTR) SPD pedal

Unfortunately a mis-buy. Pedals are clearly closer to the crank than an XT pedal. As a result, my heel rubs against it. Bearings turn remarkably stiffly, even after running in some 300 km of gravel. Greater contact surface though, but clicks out feel a bit "plastic". Why "Mantel's Choice" is not clear to me.

Narrow and has a plastic look

Note that the pedals are about 4-5 mm narrower than comparable Shimano XT pedals (measured myself). As a result, my overshoes rub against the cranks, causing unsightly wear. As for the look: taste is personal, but if I had to describe them in one word, it would be "plastic". Unfortunately, a mis-buy for me.
