Will continue to use crankbrothers because my knees don't bother me now

- Marcel, 17 October, 2025

Have been riding Crankbrothers for years because my knees require me to have some clearance on my shoes. After two seasons, I have to replace them. Then buy new ones because a repair set costs only 2 tens less.

Pros & Cons

Easy to click in
Lateral movement shoe
Less easily soiled
Lifetime
Repair set comparatively expensive

Pedal is fine because you can engage from 4 sides. However, engaging often fails.

- Jaap, 6 January, 2022

Switched from my worn-out SPD pedals and my expectations were high. However, it is disappointing as it often fails to click in. Tried adjusting the plates differently but unfortunately no improvement.

Pros & Cons

Clicking out smoothly
Easy to assemble
Snap-in on 4 sides
Snap-in often fails

Great pedal but not long-lasting

- Matt, 15 February, 2020

I’ve always used egg beater pedals and love their durability, as well as how slick and easy they are ride with/on. However, they are not particularly long lasting as I’ve managed to get through three pairs in four years (the springs have broken on them). Despite this, they are relatively cheap to replace and are great to ride on, hence why I don’t use an alternative pedal.

Pros & Cons

Cheap
Durable
Flexible
Not long-lasting
