Fully wind- and waterproof
The membrane of this road bike winter shoe is made of Koala Gore-Tex material. This material is fully wind- and waterproof, but retains good breathability to counteract excess heat. The insulating power of this material is optimal and it also gives the shoe a comfortable fit. This allows you to perform at your maximum in winter in all conditions.
NRG Air Carbon injected sole for stiffness and comfort
The Northwave Celsius R Arctic GTX features an NRG Air Carbon Reinforced sole with a stiffness index of 8 out of 12. This sole is made of nylon injected with carbon. This makes the sole stiff without sacrificing comfort. In addition, ventilation is placed in this sole to get rid of excess heat.
SLW2 closure system for proper adjustment
Northwave's shoes feature their own developed SLW2 adjustment system. This SLW2 closure allows you to adjust the shoe easily and precisely by turning the wheel. This allows you to tighten and loosen the shoe click by click. The wire is pulled tight evenly over the foot, ensuring a tight fit without pressure points.
EasyFit Climaflex sock for comfort and warmth.
To keep the shoe comfortable but give you the optimal protection against cold and rain, the shoe features a raised sock. This sock is made from 1 loop for optimal fit and minimal seams. In addition, donning and doffing is also improved over its predecessor thanks to the New Gaiter Shape and handy loops at the top. The sock fits nicely around the ankle and ensures that warmth stays in while rain cannot run in. Just make sure you wear your trousers over the sock so water doesn't still seep in through the trousers.
4-layer insole for excellent insulation
To keep your feet as warm as possible in winter, the insole consists of three different materials built in four layers. These layers consist of E.V.A + Aluminium + E.V.A. + fur and ensure that heat stays well insulated inside the shoe while feeling comfortable.
In order to help you, as best we can, to choose the right size shoe we have measured all the shoes ourselves. All that's left for you to do is measure your own foot length, and we'll tell you which shoe size per brand suits you best. Does your foot length in mm not appear on the relevant product's page? Then that particular shoe is not available in a size that suits your foot length.
You can easily measure your foot length using an A4 sheet of paper, placed on the floor against a wall. Stand with one foot on the piece of paper, with your heel against the wall. Draw a line above your big toe (or above the index toe if that is longer). Now mark your other foot on the paper in the same way. Measure both - the measurement of your longest foot is your foot length in mm's! Please note: some manufacturers have their own measuring system, and as a result what appears on the shoebox can deviate from what we have measured.
What shoe size you need can differ per brand. This is because certain brands wear larger or smaller. To help you get the perfect fit, we've also classified the shoes as narrow, average, or wide fit. Read all about it in our blog!

Fine-fitting, not too bulky, warm winter shoe.
Found out after years that the perfect winter shoe does not exist. However, an excellent replacement for my old Fizik Artica R5. The sole of the Northwave is stiffer (I like it better), and shoe also seems to be a bit warmer. Of course, the cold always gets through eventually, but only got cold toes after 1.5 hours at 0-5 degrees. To prevent water running down my legs, I use the GripGrab AquaSeal.

Great shoe
Great shoe for colder days. Pricey, though. Maja what are you cheap these days

Fine winter shoe
Very nice winter shoe for the road bike. No more cold feet!

Comfortable winter boots up to at least -5 degrees in dry weather.
Have used these shoes for over two months now in winter. In dry weather they remain comfortable until at least 5 degrees of frost. Because they breathe well your feet stay dry better than with a non-breathable overshoe. Also comfortable in the rain at higher temperatures. The insole can come out to dry faster.

Good winter shoe
Good winter shoe, just not as stiff as a real racing shoe and the top does not seal either. To prevent water from running into your shoe, you should buy one of those sealing pieces
