With the Garmin 840, you have all the conveniences with you.
After years of using the Garmin 830, the use and convenience of the Garmin 840 is very easy. Big advantage is the battery life of over 26 hours. Forgetting to charge it once is no problem at all

840 is compact, settings via phone are handy. In the beginning it takes some getting used to how everything works but after a while you get used to it.

Much more convenient than navigating with a phone + power bank, and much nicer than looking at my (garmin) watch for relevant information during a ride. Setting everything up properly does take a lot of time, especially the fine tuning of your data fields, but when you have got past this, it really is a wonderful device. I am also very happy with the touchscreen. While biking, it is so handy to swipe a different screen. In the rain, it also worked perfectly.

Purchased this Garmin after more than 5 years with the Garmin 830. Am satisfied but the navigation on the map seems to lag slightly behind the real location, causing me to miss a turn a few times. Also the start screen (where you can switch between the different profiles) is a step backwards in my opinion.

Much more convenient than navigating with a phone + power bank, and much nicer than looking at my (garmin) watch for relevant information during a ride. Setting everything up properly does take a lot of time, especially the fine tuning of your data fields, but when you have got past this, it really is a wonderful device. I am also very happy with the touchscreen. While biking, it is so handy to swipe a different screen. In the rain, it also worked perfectly.
