The AfterShokz OpenRun is the quick charge version of the brand's top model, Aeropex. Thus, the OpenRun headphones also make use of Bone Conduction Technology. Thanks to this clever technology, you can listen to music and hear ambient noise simultaneously. Thus, you are always aware of your surroundings while exercising. How this works? With bone conduction there is no traditional speaker that needs to be placed in your ear. Instead, the headphones are placed on the cheekbones, just in front of the ears. Transducers send minuscule vibrations through the cheekbones, which the brain then converts into sound. Thanks to the 8-hour battery life you can enjoy music or podcasts throughout your longest bike rides. And the OpenRun is so lightweight, you won't even feel you're wearing it. Controlling the headphones is easy with a button on the ear cup. Thanks to the waterproof rating, you can easily rinse the headphones off after your workout.
Safety in traffic while listening to music
It's always a trade-off: either listen to music during exercise or leave your earphones at home to be able to hear the traffic around you. With the AfterShokz OpenRun, you don't have to make this choice. Thanks to the bone conduction technology you can listen to your favourite artist or podcast wherever and whenever you want. As your ears remain open, you can always be alert while exercising as you can hear ambient sound and be aware of the traffic around you. Do you find it important to participate in traffic safely, to enjoy long workouts and to have the best music quality? Then choose the AfterShokz OpenRun!
Bone Conduction ear pieces do not go directly into your ear canal and bypass your ear drums completely. There is no traditional speaker that you place in your ear. Instead, there is a component at the ends of the headphones that transmits vibrations via your cheekbones. These are sent to the auditory nerves and then to the brain. Your brain receives them as ordinary sounds. This product features the 7th generation of bone conduction technology. The best characteristic of this technology is that your ear canal and ear drums are bypassed to avoid any risk of damage to your hearing and to allow you to always be aware of ambient sound directly through your ears. This makes bone conduction headphones very suitable for use in outdoor sports.
Noise-cancelling microphone
Of course, these Bluetooth headphones also have a microphone. In fact, the OpenRun has two! Both use noise-cancelling technology, eliminating ambient sounds such as wind noise and making you sound great when you're talking to someone even while riding your bike!
Quick charge technology
The OpenRun can run up to 8 hours on a full battery. It has a quick charge function which means you can take it and head out for another workout faster; a 10-minute charge gives you 1.5 hours of listening time.
Bluetooth 5.1
Thanks to the Bluetooth 5.1 chip you will have a strong and stable music connection no matter what you are playing. With a maximum range of 10 metres, you can even walk around the house without having to have your phone in your pocket all the time.
Improved sound quality and smaller size
PremiumPitch 2.0+ technology allows for even better placement on the cheekbones than other AfterShokz models. This ensures even more powerful bass sounds, less vibrations and higher volume.
Waterproof
With an IP67 water resistance rating, these headphones can be submerged in 1 metre deep water for 30 minutes. In practice, this means that the OpenRun is a waterproof headphone that can withstand heavy perspiration and long rides in the rain. The OpenRun also features a moisture detection alert to prevent damage to the product while charging.
Multi-Point Pairing
These wireless headphones feature Multi-Point Pairing, which allows you to connect different devices to the same headphones. Thus, you can switch quickly and easily between your smartphone and your laptop, for example.
• Google Assistant, Siri
• Carrying bag
• OpenMove earplugs
• Magnetic charging cable

Great product for music while exercising.
Great for running. You can hear the environment and the music. I also use it for everyday things, like cycling on the road and during household chores. Along a busy road, a podcast is sometimes hard to listen to. Incidentally, it also doesn't sit well if you want to listen to something in bed, because then the earphones slide forward.

Safest earphones on the market
As a cyclist who often cycles alone, this shokz openrun is a real asset. In the past, I often cycled with regular earphones but noticed all too often how unsafe they are because you can't hear traffic. Now with my openrun, I feel safe again during my solo rides.

Perfect
Very clearly understandable to make calls with each other, haven't used it to listen to music yet. Device really meets expectations in terms of calling.

Top acquisition
The Shokz stays on well during running, I hardly feel it. Nice that I can hear the traffic behind me while running. Now I don't have to keep looking back to see if anything is coming. The sound is good, both while listening to an audiobook and music. I had read in a few reviews that the beat/bass rhythm could not be heard well, but that might be something that can be fixed in the phone's sound settings (equaliser), as I could hear the beat well and thus stay well in the running rhythm. What is troublesome is that when you turn the device on, you automatically set the volume to its highest setting. Not that this is a problem, as I don't have the phone's volume set to full.

Could well become one of my best friends
Nice and stable design. Allows me to camouflage my tinnitus while using it. Nice during a chore at home, work in the garden e/o a creative activity. Also a welcome musical support during sports in my garden.
