Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The Scope R4.A wheelset is perfect for all-round use thanks to the 45 mm rim height and the low weight of 1397 grams.
- Thanks to technology from the Artech series, the rim shape has been optimised, resulting in a more aerodynamic wheel.
- Thanks to the 25 mm inner rim width, modern wide tyres will fit very nicely on the rims.
- Improved seals ensure improved bearing life inside the hubs.
- Scope wheels are developed in the Netherlands in collaboration with Schwalbe, SKF and the Tech Universities at Eindhoven and Delft; so their high quality is guaranteed.
- The wheelset does not come with wheel bags or disc brake rotors.
- For the very fastest wheels on the flat, you may want to consider models with higher rims such as the R6.

The Scope R4.A Disc wheelset features durable SKF bearings with good sealing and low rolling resistance. The sealing of the hubs has been greatly improved, resulting in longer bearing life. Thanks to pre-applied tubeless rim tape, making the tyres tubeless is easy. The fact that there is no weight limit for these wheels underlines their strength and reliability.
3 Years warranty
Quality is Scope's number one priority. By registering the wheelset on the Scope website within 30 days of purchase, you will activate the 3-year warranty. In the registering process you will have to enter the serial number, which can be found on the supplied registration card, the wheel box or on the flange of the rear hub.
Lifetime Crash Replacement programme
Despite its high quality, a Scope wheelset may get damaged in a severe crash. Scope offers, in addition to the 3-year warranty, a crash replacement programme to give you the chance to replace one or two wheels after a crash at a reduced rate.
The rim shape of Scope wheels has been developed using Algorithm Enhanced Aerodynamics (AEA) technology, with the algorithm calculating the most aerodynamic rim profile to ensure optimal performance.
Hub system
Scope's hub system has been re-engineered. Proven characteristics such as the wide flange spacing (for high lateral stiffness), custom-made oversized (6803/6903) SKF bearings and the tool-free adapter system have been kept and refined where possible. Besides the SKF bearings, CeramicSpeed bearings remain available as an upgrade for the Race series.
Diamond Ratchet SL system
The Diamond Ratchet freehub system is a newly developed engagement system which ensures that all power output is transferred to the wheel even faster. The standard 36T ratchet ring can optionally be replaced with a 48T ring, making your freehub engage even faster when accelerating. The system is compatible with all Shimano, Shimano Micro Spline, SRAM XDR, Campagnolo and Campagnolo N3W groupsets.
Tubeless system
The geometry of the Scope Tubeless System makes for easy mounting, direct inflation, long-lasting pressure and compatibility with all (tubeless) tyres.
Local Reinforcement technology
To reduce the wheel's weight significantly while maintaining its strength and stiffness, Scope uses Local Reinforcement carbon technology to increase the number of carbon layers around the spoke holes on the inside of the rim.

The perfect upgrade for your bike
Very nice wheels that greatly improve the look of your bike. But it's not just about looks, because they also make you a bit faster. I chose the '.A' variant because of the fit with 30mm tyres, and they fitted the wheels perfectly. Installation was very easy, although it's important to buy disc brake rotors that screw on with a cassette-taker, I didn't realise that. Despite the steel spokes (which makes them a lot less vulnerable than carbon spokes), it is a remarkably light set, even for the height. The hub has a good ratchet, but is on the loud side, perhaps too loud for some.
