Scope R4 Road Bike Wheels
Scope's bike wheels are divided into four categories; Road, All-Road, Gravel and Triathlon. With this line-up, Scope offers a suitable wheelset for every bike rider and every type of use and terrain.
Developed in the Netherlands
All of Scope's wheels are hand-built and designed using scientific findings. To be able to develop the best quality wheel sets, Scope collaborates with Eindhoven Technical University, Delft Technical University, SKF and Schwalbe. The starting point in this research and development process is to find the perfect balance between aerodynamics, weight, stiffness and durability. Scope's approach to every bike wheel is to see it as a single collaborative entity whose every detail is to be worked out to perfection. From spoke nipples and carbon rims to tyre-wheel combinations, Scope guarantees absolute quality.
3-year warranty
To emphasise the quality of its products, Scope offers a 3-year warranty on every wheelset after registering on the Scope web site. The Artech series even comes with a lifetime warranty!
Lifetime crash replacement service
Every cyclist knows that a crash may occur, sometimes there is nothing you can do to prevent it. If you should crash, you will probably want to replace the damaged bike parts quickly. Scope allows you to replace your wheel(s) after a crash at a reduced rate.
Which bike wheels are in Scope's range?
The four bike wheel categories mentioned above can be divided into three series: Sport, Race and Artech. The name of each wheel model in these series consists of the letter of that series and a number that refers to the rim height. For the allround wheels, then, Scope adds an A (All-Road), and a G for the gravel wheels. For example, the R4.A is an allround wheelset from the Race series with a 45 mm rim height.
What are the differences between the Sport, Race and Artech series?
The wheels in the Sport series are designed for anyone looking to buy a high-quality carbon wheelset at a highly competitive price. The wheels in this range have rims with a 19 mm inner width and a 26 mm outer width.
The Race series takes performance to the next level with an upgraded Diamond Ratchet hub and lighter spokes. The rim is also slightly wider, with an internal width of 23 mm and an external width of 31 mm, and its design is derived from the premium Artech series, resulting in significant weight savings and an optimised rim profile for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
The Artech series has been developed for pure performance without compromise. These are the lightest and most aerodynamic wheels on the market. The hubs are 3D printed in Germany from Scalmalloy, a low-density aluminium alloy with exceptionally high strength. This advanced material is widely used in demanding industries such as motorsport and aerospace. The Diamond Ratchet SL hub features a specialised coating and titanium components, delivering further weight reduction and enhanced durability. In addition, the rim incorporates the patented Aeroscales structure, for which wind tunnel testing at Silverstone demonstrated a clear aerodynamic advantage, particularly in crosswind conditions.
Scope All-Road wheels
Scope's range includes two All-Road wheelsets in the Race series, one All-Road wheelset in the Sport series, and three All-Road wheelsets in the Artech series. For the Race series, they are the R4.A and R6.A wheelsets. For the Sport series, it is the S4.A wheelset, and for the Artech series they are the Artech 2.A, 4.A and 6.A. These wheels are suitable for both on- and off-road use, and are mainly used in gravel bikes but are also suitable for road bikes with clearance for wheels with wider tyres. With this in mind, we recommend 28 - 32 mm widths for road bike tyres, and 35 - 57 mm widths for gravel bike tyres.
Scope Gravel and Triathlon wheels
At present, Scope's gravel wheel range includes two wheelsets, the R4.G and the Artech 4.G. The triathlon range includes the Artech Disc and the Artech 8.T wheels.
