Description

Description

The Cube Aim EX is an excellent mountain bike if you want to explore cycling on dirt roads.

Adventurous kilometres guaranteed
With the Cube Aim Ex you are going to ride many challenging kilometres. The MTB has a sturdy equipment and an excellent suspension fork. In short, cycling fun is guaranteed on the many forest trails.

Technology

Frame and fork
The mountain bike has a hugely sleek frame. The cables run through this frame, keeping them well protected from splashing dirt. For that extra bit of comfort, a Suntour front fork is fitted. This fork dampens the worst vibrations, so you can keep cycling comfortably. An extra advantage this fork has is the lock-out. With a lock-out, you can lock the suspension yourself. Suspension is very essential on dirt tracks, but on asphalt it costs you a lot of energy. A lockout therefore lets you cycle as efficiently as possible on paved roads and gravel paths.

Shifting and braking
Shifting gears is done with the Shimano Deore groupset. This groupset is often fitted on mountain bikes for beginners and advanced riders, as you can shift reliably and smoothly. In addition, this group also has good durability. With this MTB, you have access to 2x10 gears. These 10 gears combined with the large cassette give the bike a wide gear range. With a large gear range, it is possible to change gears very small, so you can keep pedalling even on steep hills. During technical descents, you can rely on Shimano's hydraulic disc brakes. These hydraulic disc brakes deliver enormous braking power, even when the weather conditions are worse. This allows you to cycle safely even on wet surfaces.

Tyres
The tyres fitted on this bike are Schwalbe's Smart Sam tyres. These tyres are excellent for the combination of paved and unpaved riding. Also, these tyres have a long lifespan and give tremendous grip.

Beautiful bike that does what it needs to do

Beautiful and technically well-equipped MTB, very satisfied to date....

- André 25 July 2023

Bought this MTB as a replacement for my Giant Talon 3, The Cube feels stiffer compared to the Giant. The first few metres have paid off just fine. The equipment with full Shimano Deore line is fine, shifting is smooth and the brakes are easy to dose.

Pros & Cons

Beautiful unique colour and looks
Fully Shimano Deore-mounted
Good feeling due to stiff frame
Would have preferred a slightly wider saddle.

Top bike for little money!

- Jorgen 5 July 2023

It exceeds expectations. I glide over the road and goes quite fast for a mountain bike. I use it daily and every day I am glad I chose this bike. I ride indoors on dirt roads and paved ones which makes the front fork lock on the handlebars very handy.

Pros & Cons

Lockable fork on handlebars
Pedals included
Shimano Deore parts
Tough bike / nice finish
Very good quality/price ratio
After 1000km of riding pleasure, I haven't found any drawbacks yet

Fine "Beginner mountain/cross country bike"

- Joukje 8 April 2023

The Cube Aim Ex is an excellent "Beginner/Cross Country MTB." After 30 years, I really wanted another MTB/XCB that suited me not only in specs, but also in looks. This Aim Ex looks tough, solid and sporty. Although the color combo Desert/Black (model 2022) appealed more to me, I opted for the Caramel/Black. The bike was neatly delivered to my home. On second thought it would have been more convenient if I had given my inseam measurement and height. Possibly Mantel would then have been able to fit the bike better. There is a rattle on the large front wheel which can easily be solved when I have my bike checked in 2 months (now in use for about 1 month) to adjust everything again. The lock-out does not work very well, after a week or two the fork springs a bit. I will have to have this checked as well. The shifters are mounted too close to my grips for my taste. It doesn't feel natural and I adjust how I place my hands. This weekend I will have to adjust it myself. Since I ride mostly on road and dirt trails and grab a bit of forest here and there. Are the tires too soft for my taste. I personally like cycling on hard tires, even though I know I have less grip on sandy surfaces. But the 29" tires make such a difference. As I mentioned before, after 30 years it is nice cycling again for me. The shifters work smoothly, but it is still searching for which gear I can find my cadence on. On one I average about 24 km/h and 2km faster becomes unpleasant, on the other it is 28 km/h, but with too much headwind it becomes unpleasant. Conclusion: The Cube Aim Ex is a very capable and fast bike.

Pros & Cons

Beautiful restrained design
Fast service
Nice ride
Price to quality ratio
Shimano Deore
Rattle on large front wheel
Shifters mounted too close to the grips
