The main fabric used for the Castelli Thermowoven is a technical stretch-woven fabric, with a wool inner lining that sits softly against your skin. The 15% wool content delivers exceptional warmth, a smooth, tailored fit and a subtle, premium feel. The ergonomic cut and carefully developed patterns follow the contours of your body so you can move freely and remain comfortable all day long.
The upper part of the bib construction is derived from Castelli's popular Premio Bib Short, and offers the same supportive stability on which riders rely throughout long hours in the saddle.
Thanks to all these properties, the Thermowoven bib tight is the number one choice of cyclists seeking comfort and quality as the temperature drops.
Technical stretch-woven fabric (245 g, 15% wool, 20% Lycra)
This fabric combines wool next to the skin for warmth with Lycra for elasticity, resulting in a smooth, premium fit that remains comfortable all day long.
Why is a woven fabric containing wool different from the knitted Thermoflex fabric used in other Castelli bib tights?
Most of Castelli’s winter bib tights, such as the Sorpasso Pro or Espresso 2, use a knitted synthetic fabric that is primarily optimised for stretch and weight. The Thermowoven model, then, uses a technical woven construction with a blend of natural wool against the skin. Woven fabrics generally have a more stable, smoother structure than knitted fabrics, which contributes to the "subtle premium feel" these tights are designed to provide. The wool adds natural thermal insulation, similar to how Merino wool works in the socks from the range, but incorporated into a compression bib tight rather than socks. The result is a fabric that feels and performs slightly differently from standard synthetic thermal tights, albeit at a higher weight.
Bib construction from the Premio bib short
The upper part of the Thermowoven bib tight, including the bib straps, is taken from the Castelli Premio bib short, renowned for its stable support on long rides.
Perforated back panel
This panel provides breathability across your back, exactly where you build up the most heat during exercise.
Elasticated ankle cuffs
The cuffs fit snugly around your ankles and provide a modern look and secure fit that will not ride up.

- Riders whose top priority is weight - there are lighter bib tights in the range.
- Wash inside out at a maximum of 30°C using a wool detergent to prevent the wool in the fabric from felting.
- Leave to air dry; the tumble dryer will damage the wool and affect the elasticity.
