With the Shimano Nexus Adjustment Template you can cut the gear cables of the Nexus gear hub to the correct length. In practice, the inner cables of gears start to rust after a few years. A new cable is relatively cheap and you can easily replace it yourself! The adjustment tool is suitable for both 101 mm and 127 mm. This is the distance between the inner cable fixing bolt and the place where the outer cable ends. This distance is very close for the best shifting performance of the Nexus and Alfine inner cables that can be found on many city bikes.
