Technologie

Frame and fork
The frame is made with SmartForm C2 aluminium. The high-quality technology used to manufacture the frame tubes ensures good characteristics. The thickness of the tube walls is variable, with the stress points being thicker and more robust. The welds have not been perfectly polished everywhere, which has an important advantage: Tightly polished welds weaken the frame. On this touring bike, designed for the joy of cycling, Cannondale didn't want to compromise on riding quality just to improve the look in this tiny aspect. The result is a stiff frame which allows you to ride through every corner with confidence. This is due not only to the frame but to the fork as well. Both fork legs are made of a single piece, which provides more stability when steering. As this fork and the seatpost do not have suspension, this is not a bike for optimum comfort. However, because Cannondale use their SAVE technology in their city bikes, which increases shock absorption in the frame and fork, this city bike is just that bit more comfortable than other non-suspension city bikes. In terms of pure handling the Tesoro 2 is a real winner.

Shifting and braking
The Cannondale Tesoro 2 comes with high-quality equipment. With 30 gears, you won't be short of options, as you'll have a gear range of 431%, allowing you to climb any hill effortlessly. These Shimano Deore parts are often used on mountain bikes, so you can be sure that they are robust and work smoothly. This bike also has Shimano MT200 brakes. These hydraulic disc brakes have 2 pistons per caliper. This means that, while they are not the most powerful disc brakes, the braking power is certainly more than sufficient for a city bike. They are easy to dose, allowing you to control your braking power. In comparison with other braking technologies, their braking power is very good.

Other parts
The most striking part of this bike is the luggage carrier. The fact that it is integrated into the frame makes it even more stable for transporting your luggage. It also has special cams for easy mounting of Ortlieb panniers. The 40mm Schwalbe tyres provide good traction and puncture resistance. Thus, any ride on this city bike will be a pleasant experience with no worries about a flat. For visibility the bike has a Hermanns light set that runs on a maintenance-free Shimano hub dynamo, ensuring that you will not be overlooked by other road users.

Anwendungstipps

Maintenance of gear parts and brakes
We recommend a regular cleaning of the chain and derailleur for optimum durability and efficiency. As for the hydraulic disc brakes, we recommend cleaning those hardly ever, as contamination with grease and detergents may impair braking performance. If you do want to clean the brake discs, we recommend doing so with a dry paper towel. Try not to touch the discs with your fingers.

Tyre pressure
Having the right tyre pressure is important. The wrong tyre pressure may cause punctures, more wear, rim damage when the pressure is low, and uncomfortable handling. For most e-bikes, tyre pressure is between 3.5 and 6 bar. The recommended pressure for your tyres should be printed on their sidewall.

General maintenance tip
While you can do a lot of maintenance work yourself, it may be wise to have it checked by a bicycle mechanic.
