With the Zipp 3ZERO MOTO mountain bike wheels, Zipp has brought a technique from motocross to the mountain bike world. Zipp took inspiration from the free movement of rims in dirt bikes. Normally, carbon wheels feel very stiff on a mountain bike but with the Zipp 3ZERO MOTO wheels this is a thing of the past.
Unlike conventional mountain bike wheels, the 3ZERO MOTO rims have a single-wall design. The rims move according to the terrain, similar to an ankle joint. This keeps the tire in better contact with the terrain, reducing the risk of loss of grip or damage to the rim.
The design of the rim provides more flexibility in the event of an impact, which makes for a more comfortable ride. The ability to ride tubeless on low tyre pressure contributes to this.
