Description
The Sram X1 type 2.1 rear derailleur thats designed to change gears smoothly during your cycling tours. This derailleur has a lot of different types of technologies that ensure you can ride your bike even easier. Amaze yourself and others with this beautiful piece of engineering. This system is intended for the 1X11 system, so do you want to upgrade or renew your bike? This is the way to do it!
Technologies:
Cage Lock™:
With Cage Lock it is easier to install your chain and (de)install your wheel. This is done by pressing the cage forward and fastened with a button.
Roller Bearing Clutch ™:
This technique ensures you drive-chain is maximum stabilized, even during the roughest terrain. With this technique are unwanted derailleur movements and chain slap eliminated without having to compromise on its precision gear changing.
X Actuation ™:
Specially designed for SRAM 1X, X-Actuation ensures changing gears is sharp and consistent across the entire cassette of 10 up to 42 teeth.
X-HORIZON ™:
The X-HORIZON™ rear derailleur ‘straight parallelogram’ design limits all movement to the horizontal axis, which makes ghost shifting impossible while also reducing shift force. For quicker, more exact shifting, the large upper pulley offset design maintains a constant chain gap across all gears.
X-SYNC ™:
The 1X chainring delivers the highest performance and assures durability. The SRAM X-SYNC™ long square teeth engage the chain earlier than traditional triangular teeth. The X-SYNC chainrings have a 'mud clearance' recess between the chain links and chain ring, to ensure the mud falls out. The X-SYNC ™ rings are an integral part out of the SRAM 1X ™ powertrain. Designed in Germany.
• Material: aluminum (cage)
• Speeds: 11-speed
• Weight: 256 grams
To loosen and tighten the bolt that attaches the gear cable to the derailleur, you will need a 5 mm Allen key. These can be found here.
Disassembling the chain
Before you can remove the derailleur, you must remove the chain. How to do this you can read here. For this you need a chain rivet tool, which you can find here. Make sure you get the right brand and number of speed.
Use assembly paste to mount
When you mount your new rear derailleur, you should put some assembly paste on the threads of the derailleur pad. You can buy this from here.
Mounting derailleur pulleys
To fit derailleur pulleys you need a 2.5 mm or 3 mm Allen key. A handy Allen key can be found here.
A common problem is a warped derailleur hanger. This can be caused by the derailleur coming into contact with something hard, for example during a fall. Fortunately, this can be repaired! Find out more here.
Make sure you clean your derailleur pulleys too!
Like the chain, derailleur pulleys get very dirty. This makes for a less enjoyable ride and doesn't help with the durability of your drivetrain. Therefore, when cleaning the chain and / or oiling the chain, it is advisable to also clean the derailleur pulleys. Do this by gently turning the chain while you run a cloth along the derailleur wheel. However, at some point the derailleur wheels will be worn out. Visit our blog to find out when to replace your derailleur pulleys and which ones you need.
