Gear changes are smooth thanks to the low-maintenance Shimano Nexus 5 gear hub, which has been specially designed to handle the immense forces generated by the mid-drive motor. To control all that power safely and modulate the braking force, the bike is fitted with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 4 pistons at the front.
