The XTR SL-M980 Rapidfire shifters: sleek, minimalist and racy - exactly what you'd expect from a top group from Shimano. XTR is designed for XC and Trail. The shifter are designed to function with 2x10 Race and 3x10 Trail XTR groups. The left-shifter has a switch as a mode converter which makes it possible to use both groupsets.
Just like previous generations of the XTR shifters the right hand shifter has a multi-release function, this means you can change multiple gears simultaneously. The shifters can be operated with either thumb or finger. This 2-way design provides easy shifting , even during moments when your out of your saddle. A technology that is new to this 980 XTR shifters is Vivid Index. This creates a bigger positive feel for the larger thumb shifter lever. Another advantage is the pressure of the shifts, the shifts are even: the shifts from 34 up to 36 feel exactly the same as a shift from 12 to 13 teeth.
