Description
The Jagwire Pro-Smi Metallic are high-grade brake pads by Jagwire
The compound of semi-metallic brake pads consists of a mix between organic components and metal. With 'Pro' brake pads, the compound is placed on an aluminium backplate. The upside of this is better heat dissipation. This prevents the brake pads from glazing and losing stopping power.
The advantage of the semi-metallic compound is that these brake pads have great dosability and produce little noise. In addition, the can resist high temperatures that can be caused by long descents. These brake pads also wear out slower in muddy terrain.
The downside is the semi-metallic brake pads react slower than organic brake pads and produce more noise during braking.
Semi-metallic brake pads are all-round brake pads that can be used all year through. In addition, they provide great stopping power and good dosability, but react slower than organic brake pads. If you're planning on cycling in wet weather or hilly/mountainous terrain, or using your bike for downhill/enduro, Pro sintered brake pads are more suitable for you.
Note:
Manufacturers use different sizes & fits. Make sure if the shape of the brake pad in the image corresponds with your current brake pad. Not sure what shape you have, scroll down to the bottom of this page. There, you’ll find which brake pad is suited for which type of brake.

User tips
It is essential that you break in your brake pads after fitting them. This has many benefits. Breaking in the pads makes them last longer, brake better and squeak less.Find out more on our Blog

Just very good brake pads
- Johan 18 January 2022
Normally, I only want to fit original brake pads from Sram. As these were sold out, I fitted Jagwire's Pro semi-metallic brake pads. I must say I was somewhat sceptical but this was unjustified. Next time I will mount these brake pads again.
Pros & Cons
Brakes well
Fits perfectly
Little noise
Wear is not so bad

Excellent blocks
- C. 15 March 2021
Brake pads meet expectations. Brake well and wear limited. However, keep making a lot of noise when braking despite the compound being between Metallic and organic.
Pros & Cons
hard-wearing
Noisy with braking
