Unexpectedly very fine all-round trail/enduro tyre. My new choice!
This Kryptotal has not been on the market for long and its predecessors had a lesser reputation, but I must say that this really is a very new and amazingly good tyre. A tyre that can easily compete with the big brands like Schwalbe and Maxxis. This FR(ont) is also meant to be a front tyre, so don't go putting it behind. It works well in combination with the rear tyre of the same name (REar). Then you get the full effect of it. The FR and RE have a different tread, specifically for the spot on the mtb. It is an all-round tyre that rides well on dry and wet loose ground. It also handles mud well, but with less grip, as it is not a mud tyre. Rolling resistance is not that bad, but it is obviously more than an XC tyre (e.g. Racing Ralph, etc). I personally find the rolling resistance better than a Nobby Nic. What I find ideal about this tyre is that it seems to have grip almost everywhere and as icing on the applesauce: what fast cornering you can do with it!!! I really feel a difference compared to Nobby Nic, Assegai and Dissector tyres. And those are very good tyres too. I feel much more control in the corners, without the tyres being skittish (not even on the straights). Then regarding the compound. You can go for this Endurance version, which rides excellently in the Benelux and Germany (and maybe also in the Alps) or go for the Enduro (soft) version which is softer and gives more protection to the sides of the tyre (obviously a bit heavier and a little bit more rolling resistance). I will leave out the downhill version for now as this is a specific tyre. Why choose the Endurance anyway? In my opinion, because the Endurance already has a very soft profile (perhaps with other brands this would already be soft) and the extra protection in bikeparks and Benelux is negligible. The Endurance has a bit more grip on gravel-like surfaces and the Enduro a bit more in the soft wet. This is in the margin, but I myself ride more often in the drier conditions and wanted the lightest all-round tyre possible. In any case, you can't choose wrong, mind you. Because, what I am pointing out now is really on the details. Also good to know if you go for the combination FR and RE: the FR does not go larger than 2.4 inches (for your information, Mantel lists 2.35 inches, but that is the 2.4-inch version). And that's fine!!! Why I mention this is because the RE is also available in 2.6 inches. That one is made for eBikes and I would not recommend it for regular MTB''s (although of course it can be). Also, please do not put a larger (inch) size on the rear tyre than the front tyre. That is guaranteed to lose grip. You want the rear tyre to roll nicely and be able to swerve (read: skid nicely through corners) and not the other way around. So buy the 2.6 RE only if you have a 2.6 or 2.8 front. 2.8 front? Yes indeed, the Kryptotals have a very large stud profile (without increasing rolling resistance), larger than many other 2.6 tyres.... So a Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.6 has smaller studs than a Kryptotal 2.6.... Then fitting the tyres: I found this to be very easy. I read on several forums that this would be tricky, but I didn't experience that. Except in combination with cushcore rim protection. But that's always tricky... For your information, people find it difficult to tell what size the Kryptotals are because the description on the tyres is very brief (which I personally find aesthetically pleasing). The size is very small in relief on the side of the tyre, at the level of the logo. The symbols on the side show which type of tyre you have. Finally, I myself ride a Trek Fuel EX Generation 6 (fully) and can be found on various trails and bikeparks. I like going down more than up. Not professionally, but fanatical :-). Hopefully this will help in imaging how/by whom the tyres were tested. Good luck with your choice! And of course have fun shredding the trails.

Nice straight tyre, ridden Ammerongen and Schoorl on an Enduro bike. (Santa Cruz Bronson C) Comes into its own on the div tracks in bikepark Winterberg. Trail version is very satisfactory for me. Decent prints on the sidewalls compared to e.g. a busy Maxxis Minion DHF Exo TR...

Lots of grip as expected. If you go too far it breaks out in a controlled way so you still have time to correct. Nice for trail and funpark, for XC it really rolls too heavy and you feel the weight with turn on. This is to be expected...
