With Simson Solutie, you can repair a punctured inner tube so that it’s as strong as new. Simply apply a thin layer to the tube, leave it to dry for 5 minutes and press the patch onto it. The solution then ensures that the patch and the tyre become one, without the need for heat. This 30 ml tube is ideal for keeping in the shed or workshop, so you always have enough to hand.
Simson Solution works with all Simson tyre patches and with other standard adhesive patches, such as those from the XLC Plaster Set.
Cold vulcanisation
Vulcanisation means that rubber bonds together. Normally, this requires heat, but Simson Solutie does it without heat. The patch fuses, as it were, with your inner tube, so that it no longer comes away, even at high tyre pressure.
Quick-drying formula
The solution dries in about 5 minutes. You can then apply the patch and reinflate your tyre.
Suitable for
- Rubber inner tubes, from city bikes to road bikes and mountain bikes.
- All Simson tyre patches and other standard adhesive patches that require the use of a solution.
Not suitable for
- Self-adhesive patches: these can be applied without liquid.
- TPU inner tubes: you’ll need special TPU patches for these.
- Tubeless tyres: you seal a puncture in these using a repair kit with plugs.
Not sure? Here’s how to check
Check the packaging of your patches. If it says ‘self-adhesive’, you don’t need any solution. If there’s no mention of it, or if the patches have a film on the underside with an orange or red border, you do need solution.
Here’s how to patch your inner tube. First, locate the puncture: inflate the inner tube and listen or feel where the air is escaping, or hold it in a bowl of water and see where bubbles form. Dry the area and lightly sand it with sandpaper. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the inner tube, slightly larger than your patch. Wait about 5 minutes until the sealant is dry and matt. Press the patch firmly into place, paying particular attention to the edges. Then check the inside of your outer tyre for glass or a thorn, otherwise you’ll get another puncture straight away.
- Apply a thin layer. Too much solution dries poorly and the plaster will actually stick less well.
- Make sure you wait until the solution has become matt before pressing the plaster onto it. That’s when it adheres most strongly.
- Tighten the cap securely after use, otherwise the solution will dry out in the tube.
- Use the solution in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames and out of reach of children.
