Material use and heat resistance
This RT800 disc brake rotor is ground, which makes the metal of the disc harder than in cheaper versions. This means you can use the rotor with soft resin brake pads, but also in combination with harder brake pads without the disc wearing out more. If you go bike in the mountains or ride through bad conditions, you can choose semi-metallic and metallic brake pads: these brake pads are more heat and wear resistant. Furthermore, the closed parts of this disc allow the heat caused by braking to transfer away from the rotor and dissipate, while the rotor is cooled by the cooling fins. The RT-800 brake rotors are durable, lightweight, and stiff. Thanks to the Shimano Center Lock-system, more power and security is ensured through a more simple setup.
