Description

Description

The Shimano B05S Resin disc brake pads are organic MTB brake pads and the successor of the well-known Shimano B03S brake pads. Compared to these, the B05S pads provide the same braking power and modulation but last a bit longer.

Good modulation and braking power
Organic brake pads consist of soft materials. This gives these brake pads excellent controllability and braking power. The soft compound also means that the pad grips quickly. In addition, the organic compound ensures that these brake pads make little noise when being used. The disadvantage of organic brake pads is that they do not cope as well with higher temperatures that can occur during long descents. Also, organic brake pads wear harder if you ride in muddy conditions. If you're going to the mountains or often ride in wet conditions, you should consider brake pads in the Shimano D fit with a metal or semi-metal compound.

Note
Manufacturers use different fits. So pay attention if the shape of the brake pad in the picture corresponds to your current brake pad. If you do not know what shape you have, please scroll down on this page to where you find a compatibility list for each brake pad and type of brake.

User tips

It is essential that you break in your brake pads after fitting them. This is because breaking in the pads will make them last longer, brake better and squeak less.

Not good

- Roy 2 April 2024

The day after fitting the brake pads, I took my MTB away to have the brakes bled. The bike shop had also replaced the new brake pads because they squeaked terribly and were rock hard. With the new brake pads from the bike shop, it was solved.
