The Garmin Forerunner 70 smartwatch offers a bright 1.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen and a comprehensive range of training and health features in a compact 43 mm body. Built-in GNSS accurately tracks pace and distance, and Training Readiness and Training Status provide insight into exertion and recovery. With over 80 built-in sports apps, the watch is suitable for a wide range of activities. With low weight (40 grams) and a 5ATM water-resistance rating, the Forerunner 70 is a lightweight yet robust sports watch.

Construction and sensors
The Forerunner 70 sports watch has a 1.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen that offers vivid colours and good readability in bright light. The body is 43 mm wide and weighs just 40 grams, making the watch comfortable to wear on the wrist all day long. On the underside, the Garmin Elevate Gen4 heart rate sensor continuously measures your heart rate from your wrist, ensuring that your exertion levels during activity are accurately tracked. With a water-resistance rating of 5ATM (50 metres), the watch can withstand sweat, rain and swimming. Colour filters for red/green, green/red and blue/yellow ensure the display is also easy to read for users with colour blindness.

Training and health
The watch offers smart training metrics such as Training Readiness, Training Status, Acute Load and VO2 Max, which track progress and recovery over time. The Quick Workout feature instantly creates a running workout based on your desired duration and intensity, entirely on the watch itself. Running Dynamics on the wrist measures cadence, stride length and ground contact time, and Running Power provides insight into the effort expended. In terms of recovery, the Forerunner 70 tracks HRV status, Sleep Score and Body Battery, complemented by Sleep Coach and nap detection. For safety whilst out and about, the Forerunner 70 includes LiveTrack location sharing and automatic accident detection, and you can use Garmin Connect IQ to add watch faces and data fields.

Other details
The Garmin Forerunner 70 sports watch supports more than 80 built-in sports apps, including running, biking and pool swimming. External sensors such as heart rate straps, footpods, bike lights, bike radar and speed and cadence sensors can be paired via ANT+ and Bluetooth. The battery lasts up to 13 days in smartwatch mode and up to 23 hours in GPS mode, with an extended battery-saving mode lasting up to 28 days.
