Fulcrum Racing Zero Competizione Road Bike Wheels

The Fulcrum Racing Zero Competizione is a newcomer to the Zero range. It takes all the technologies from the existing Zero wheelsets but improves even more over the regular Zero and bridges the gap between the regular Zero and the Zero Carbon. For instance, the Zero Competizione uses the ceramic Cult bearings rather than the USB ones in order to improve the smoothness of the wheel and durability of the hubs. The 2-way fit system, allowing you to run tubeless and thereby largely avoiding punctures, is also carried over, as well as the MoMag system which ensures the spoke holes are only drilled in the outer rim but not the bed itself, radically improving the rigidity of the wheels. The wheelset also uses the C17 rims which means 25 and 28 mm tyres fall onto the wheel nicely.

CULT - CERAMIC ULTIMATE LEVEL TECHNOLOGIE
Achter deze techniek zit het exclusieve Cronitect staal, ontwikkeld door Schaeffler Group met de FAG technologie specifiek voor lagers. Het staal dat gebruikt wordt in de lagers is bestand tegen corrosie in zo’n grote mate dat zelfs vet overbodig wordt om te smeren en eigenlijk een klein beetje olie al voldoende is. Top kwaliteit ceramische kogels zijn dankzij de afwezigheid van lagervet en de precieze productie van het cup conus systeem, zo drastisch verlaagd in frictie dat het 9 maal minder weerstand oplevert in vergelijking tot andere lagers.

2-WAY FIT
De techniek van Tubeless is in eerste instantie afgeleid van de auto industrie, vervolgens werd het overgenomen in de motor industrie, tenslotte heeft het ook de fiets industrie bereikt. Na het debuut in het mountainbiken is het nu doorontwikkeld voor de toepassing in het weg-wielrennen waar wij graag aan helpen mee ontwikkelen. We hebben het 2-way fit systeem ontwikkeld zodat het ook compatibel is voor gewone draad- en vouwbanden. De 2-way fit race wielsets zijn zeer veelzijdig in verschillende situaties. Dankzij een rand in de velg vallen de tubeless banden perfect op de plek om een maximale afdichting te garanderen. Als het ventiel goed geplaatst zit maakt het in eerste instantie niet uit of de band volledig recht zit, bij het opvoeren van de druk in de band zal de band vanzelf op zijn plek schieten.

De voordelen zijn onvoorstelbaar:
Uit testen komt naar voren dat er een ontzettend groot voordeel ontstaat met betrekking tot de rolweerstand. Omdat er geen binnenband gebruikt wordt valt die weerstand volledig weg. Tubeless banden hebben niets te lijden wanneer de band wordt doorgeprikt vanwege de latex in de band wordt het gat moeiteloos opgevuld. Klapbanden of snakebites zijn verleden tijd en komen de veiligheid ten goede. Mocht het toch zijn dat het gat niet opgevuld wordt bij bijvoorbeeld een sneetje in de band, kan er nog altijd een normale binnenband gemonteerd worden om thuis te komen.

MOMAG
Een systeem waarbij de spaaknippels vervangen kunnen worden met een magneet. Dit is nodig wanneer er geen spaakgaten aan de buitenkant van de velg zitten.

2:1 TWO-TO-ONE
Wanneer je druk zet op de pedalen, zal de kracht doorwerken naar de spaken om het wiel op gang te brengen. Wat je niet wilt is dat er kracht verloren gaat in deze wisselwerking. Fulcrum heeft dit opgelost met het gepatenteerde 2:1 Two-to-One spaakpatroon, door het aantal spaken te verdubbelen op de meest kritische plekken.

RIM DYNAMIC BALANCE
Het concept is simpel en elegant: Het in balans brengen van het wiel door middel van toegevoegd gewicht exact tegenover het ventiel.

• Te gebruiken i.c.m. Shimano en/of Sram 9/10/11 speed groepset

• Fulcrum Racing Zero Competizione wheelset
• Spacer for 10-speed cassettes
• Quick release skewers

• Cassette remover Shimano or Campagnolo
• (possibly a torque wrench)

Installing a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools. If you purchase a cassette remover with a Shimano fit, you will be able to mount either a Shimano or Sram cassette on your rear wheel. Please note! For a Campagnolo cassette you need the Campagnolo tool. If you have a Shimano 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the spacer over the body. Then you place the cassette on the body. This can only be done in one way because of the fit of the body. Finally you turn the washer straight on by hand and tighten it with the cassette tool. Cassettes aren’t easily overtightened, but if you want you can use a torque wrench for this.

• Pay attention to the direction of travel when mounting your tyres.
• For Shimano 9/10-speed, do not forget to mount the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• Make sure the rim tape is stuck well in the rim.
• On both the front and rear wheel, there is a small adjustment screw on the left-hand side to adjust the side play.
