SRAM Apex D1 Flattop Chain is a flattop chain with a unique look. Flattop technology is so much more than a distinctive look. In fact, it ensures that the chain is lighter, stronger and more durable than a traditional chain. The Apex chain is constructed using the same design as the Rival and Force chains, but with a polished grey finish.
Need tools?
•Use a chain breaker to shorten your chain as needed. You can find these here.• You'll need a missing link tool to close the powerlock. You can find these here.
• Use a chain checker to check if your chain has to be replaced due to wear and tear. You'll need this one for SRAM Flat Top chains: the Park Tool Chain Checker CC-4.

Nothing special
- Loran 4 August 2025
Purchased because the original one broke after 1 week. This one has since survived the holidays and mountains in France, although I'm still a bit cautious while shifting gears and the amount of force you can keep putting on the pedals. If a stronger one fits the APEX 12t I would prefer it, but I needed one quickly before leaving.
Pros & Cons
Seems weaker than older chains
