Syncros ST-R100-AL Stem

This stem is designed for road cyclists who want to squeeze that little bit of extra weight and aerodynamics out of their Scott Addict RC MY25, Addict MY26 or Fastlane MY26 road bike (MY = Model Year) without immediately opting for carbon. Thanks to the integrated cable routing, your cockpit stays neat and tidy, and at 150 grams, this stem is close to the weight of a much more expensive carbon version.

The -11° angle is fixed, so choose this stem if you already know you want a low, sporty riding position. If you are unsure whether this suits you, have your bike fit checked before ordering.

Integrated cable routing

The cables and/or electronic wires run through the stem into the frame, rather than running separately along the handlebars. This not only makes for a cleaner look but also reduces drag while cycling.

Torx T25 steel bolts

The clamping bolts are made from corrosion-resistant steel with Torx T25 heads to prevent them rusting or becoming rounded off after years of outdoor cycling, as can sometimes happen with cheaper Allen bolts.

AL7075 aluminium

This stem is made from AL7075, an aluminium alloy originally developed for the aerospace industry, and considerably stronger than the standard AL6061. This allows Syncros to build the stem thinner and lighter without compromising on stiffness, and this is reflected in its weight of 150 grams.

• Handlebars with a 31.8 mm clamp diameter
• A maximum total system weight of 120 kg (bike, rider and luggage combined)

Not compatible with:

• Any frame model other than the three mentioned above, including older Scott Addict generations; these have a different head tube and cable routing.
• Handlebars with a clamp diameter other than 31.8 mm, for example 26.0 mm.
• Bikes without internal, integrated cable routing through the handlebars and stem.

Check the specifications for your model year Addict or Fastlane, or check the frame number with Scott: Only the MY25 Addict RC, MY26 Addict and MY26 Fastlane have the correct handlebar tube (1 1/16") and cable routing for this stem. Also, measure the clamp diameter of your current handlebars; it must be exactly 31.8 mm.

You can install this stem yourself but should only do so if you are familiar with fitting and removing handlebars with integrated cables; this is trickier than with a standard stem because you have to route the cables/lines through the frame. Always use a Torque wrench for the clamping bolts: While overtightening can damage the handlebars or stem, undertightening is unsafe. If you are unsure about your own assembly skills with this integrated setup, have it done by an experienced bike mechanic.

• Apply assembly paste between the handlebars and the stem to prevent creaking and to ensure the clamping bolts don’t need to be tightened as much to maintain a secure grip.
• After the first few rides, check that the bolts are still tightened to the correct torque, especially after a fall or intensive use.
• Choose your stem length carefully – a shorter stem (70–90 mm) gives you a slightly more upright, relaxed riding position, and a longer one (110–140 mm) offers a more stretched-out, aerodynamic riding position.
